Actor Kim Jung-hyun received the Best Actor Award at the '2024 KBS Acting Awards.'
Kim Jung-hyun from 'The Iron Family' expressed his gratitude after receiving the award on the broadcast aired on the 11th, saying, “Thank you. I know how lacking and insufficient I am, and I am grateful to be standing here. Until a few years ago, I thought I would never act again. There were various reasons, and I thought I couldn't do it, but I am thankful to be able to stand in a place like this.”
He continued, “While it is customary to express gratitude, true gratitude cannot be achieved without reflecting on the past. Since I started acting, I have hurt many people and caused frowns with my very bad and unacceptable behavior. I sincerely apologize for that,” bowing his head.
Kim Jung-hyun stated, “I do not think that just apologizing is the end, nor do I seek forgiveness. I believe it is a necessary process for me to continue my life.”
He added, “To the 'Iron Family' KBS, writer Seo Suk-hyang, Kim Young-ok, Park In-hwan, Shin Hyun-joon, Kim Hye-eun, Park Ji-young, Geum Sae-rok, Choi Tae-joon, Yang Hye-ji, you are all working so hard. It’s the end, so you must be tired, but I will be smiling in the corner of the set. I will be a member who can be a source of strength. I sincerely thank my fans,” and expressed gratitude to the company staff who helped him when he first started acting, wishing for peace and blessings on their respective paths.
He added, “When I was struggling, my father, mother, and brother shared the burden and all the pain that I had to carry under the name of family. I wanted to be a proud son, brother, and sibling, but I couldn't. I sincerely hope that this moment will be remembered as a proud moment.”
Previously, Kim Jung-hyun and Seo Hyun worked together in the 2018 MBC drama 'Time.' At that time, during the production presentation of 'Time,' Kim Jung-hyun showed a lack of sincerity by refusing to link arms with Seo Hyun for a photo, leading to controversy over his attitude, and he left the drama due to health issues during its airing.
Afterward, Kim Jung-hyun conveyed his position through a handwritten apology, stating, “I regret it so much that I want to turn back time,” and added, “I sincerely apologize without any excuses.”
The '2024 KBS Acting Awards,' hosted by broadcaster Jang Seong-kyu and actors Seo Hyun and Moon Sang-min, was originally scheduled to be broadcast live on December 31 of last year but was canceled due to the aftermath of the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster. The awards ceremony was conducted as a recorded event.
Nominees for the Grand Prize included Lee Soon-jae from the drama 'Barking Dog,' Ji Hyun-woo and Lim Soo-hyang from 'Beauty and the Beast,' Kim Jung-hyun and Park Ji-young from 'The Iron Family,' and Kim Ha-neul from 'Let’s Grab the Collar.'
