The Coupang Play series ‘Newtopia’ has released stills showcasing the couple chemistry between ‘Jae-yoon (Park Jung-min)’ and ‘Young-joo (Jisoo)’, who are separated as a soldier and a girlfriend, making their relationship even more poignant.
The Coupang Play series ‘Newtopia’ tells the story of soldier Jae-yoon and his girlfriend Young-joo as they run towards each other through a zombie-infested downtown Seoul.
In the released stills, we can catch a glimpse of the youthful romance between soldier ‘Jae-yoon’, who only thinks of ‘Young-joo’ even as hordes of zombies approach, and the determined girlfriend ‘Young-joo’, who runs towards her boyfriend despite the world collapsing around her. ‘Jae-yoon’, who was indifferent to the campus goddess ‘Young-joo’, even rejected her proposal for a group project, showing his cold demeanor. ‘Young-joo’ also tried to ignore ‘Jae-yoon’, who often left her flustered, but fate brought them together when ‘Jae-yoon’ got hired at the ice cream shop where ‘Young-joo’ worked, and they gradually developed feelings for each other.
In the stills capturing the moment when ‘Young-joo’ confesses her feelings to ‘Jae-yoon’, the excitement and fresh tension before they become a couple are palpable, and we can feel the chemistry between Park Jung-min and Jisoo, who seem like a real campus couple, as they playfully exchange hearts at any moment. Even with zombies lurking, the couple's instinct to rush towards each other is perfectly complemented by the chemistry between the two.
At the production presentation held on the 7th, Park Jung-min said, “I admired Jisoo for always smiling on set. I learned a lot just by watching her,” while Jisoo remarked, “There was a phone call scene with Jae-yoon, and even though it wasn’t a shooting day, he came to the set. I was so surprised, and thanks to him, I was able to immerse myself in the acting,” exchanging compliments and hinting at the perfect chemistry the two will showcase in the work.
