The production team of the drama 'Wongyeong' has stated its position regarding the controversy over the use of a body double for exposure scenes.

A representative from 'Wongyeong' stated on the 16th regarding the controversy over the exposure scenes in the drama, "From the initial planning stage, we differentiated between the tvN and OTT versions, and we openly communicated that the OTT version would be produced with a 'restricted to adults' rating."

They further stated regarding the level of exposure, "We consulted with the agency and each actor at each stage of production."

The tvN-Tving drama 'Wongyeong', which premiered on the 6th, drew attention from the first and second episodes due to exposure and intimate scenes involving lead actors Cha Joo-young and Lee Yi-dam. These scenes were edited out for the tvN broadcast to comply with a 15+ rating. However, on the OTT platform Tving, the viewing rating was raised to 'restricted to adults', allowing the scenes to be aired as they were.

Amidst this, rumors surfaced that the exposure scenes were filmed with a body double rather than the original actors, intensifying the controversy.

According to a report from the Cultural Daily, the production team of 'Wongyeong' emphasized the necessity of the scenes and increased the level of exposure during the storyboard stage before filming. Ultimately, Cha Joo-young and Lee Yi-dam filmed the scenes while clothed, and later, scenes filmed by a fully exposed body double were re-edited using CGI.

Afterward, the representatives of the two actors requested the production team to edit the scenes, but their requests were not accepted. This led some to criticize that the two actors were being used for '19+ noise marketing.'

As the controversy continued, the director of 'Wongyeong', Kim Sang-ho, stated through a media outlet, "It was not so much that we filmed the exposure scenes with directorial intent, but rather that there was a demand from the channel," keeping his comments brief.

'Wongyeong' (written by Lee Young-mi, directed by Kim Sang-ho) tells the story of Queen Wongyeong (played by Cha Joo-young) and her husband, King Taejong Lee Bang-won (played by Lee Hyun-wook), as they seize power.
