In ‘The Tale of Lady Ok’, Lim Ji-yeon begins to confront crises to save Cheong Soo-hyun.
In the JTBC weekend drama ‘The Tale of Lady Ok’ (written by Park Ji-sook, directed by Jin Hyuk), which aired on the 18th, Ok Tae-young (played by Lim Ji-yeon) made a bold decision to save the villagers from the Man-su-sam fraud case while evading the sudden appearance of her former mistress, Kim So-hye (played by Ha Yul-ri). The episode achieved a viewership rating of 9.1% in the metropolitan area and 8.4% nationwide, ranking first in its time slot (based on Nielsen Korea's paid households).
Ok Tae-young faced Kim So-hye, who recognized her at a glance, with audacity, managing to get through the moment without flinching. Although it was only a matter of time before her identity was revealed, especially with the local magistrate being her former master, Kim Nak-soo (played by Lee Seo-hwan), she declared that she would not leave, as disappearing would only prove that she was Gu Deok-yi (played by Lim Ji-yeon).
However, due to Kim So-hye's meddling throughout the village, rumors began to spread that Ok Tae-young was a runaway slave. Lady Kim (played by Yoon Ji-hye) conveyed to Ok Tae-young what Kim So-hye had told her and asked if it was true, to which Ok Tae-young admitted her status as a runaway slave. Nevertheless, after hearing Ok Tae-young's complicated backstory and her sense of duty as an outsider, Lady Kim promised to forget all about it over a drink.
Afterward, Ok Tae-young began investigating the Man-su-sam fraud case that had caused chaos in the village. She gathered evidence based on the testimonies of the clients who were directly affected and the scheming of Lady Hong (played by Jung Soo-young), who had instigated the incident.
In this situation, Cheon Seung-hwi (played by Chu Young-woo) began to assist Ok Tae-young by entering the government office in the capacity of a local official, as she could not confront Kim Nak-soo directly. He successfully misled Kim So-hye to Hanyang by disguising Man-seok (played by Lee Jae-won) and Dokki (played by Oh Dae-hwan) as bounty hunters, and he even set up a gambling den to find the famous physician Heo Soon (played by Yoon Byeong-hee), showcasing his versatility as a skilled planner.
However, the Heo Soon they found at the gambling den turned out not to be the person involved in the case, shocking everyone. Heo Soon appeared genuinely confused rather than simply denying it, and with Lady Hong's assertion that this was not the Heo Soon she had met, the possibility that someone had impersonated Heo Soon to commit fraud gained more weight.
As the villagers fell into chaos again, Park Jun-ki, the Minister of Personnel with a deep connection to Cheong Soo-hyun, personally appeared in the village, heightening the tension. In particular, Park Jun-ki learned that Ok Tae-young, an outsider who had nullified everything he had done in Cheong Soo-hyun through his concubine Kim So-hye, was a runaway slave. The fate of Ok Tae-young, now precarious in her first breathless encounter with Park Jun-ki, who knows her secret, draws attention to what turn her fate will take.
Can Lim Ji-yeon maintain her identity and justice amidst the overwhelming crises? Find out in ‘The Tale of Lady Ok’ airing on the 19th at 10:30 PM.
