‘Prince of Trot’ Son Tae-jin showcases his prowess as a strong contender in audition programs.
The MBC entertainment program ‘Radio Star’, airing on the 22nd at 10:30 PM, features a special segment called ‘Oh Singer Game’ with guests Yoon Jong-shin, Kim Young-chul, Son Tae-jin, and Choi Sang-yeop (band Lucy).
Son Tae-jin is the ‘master of transformation’ who has won in two distinctly different audition shows. He first gained fame as the ‘Pavarotti’ of classical music after winning ‘Phantom Singer’, and then challenged himself again on ‘Burning Trotman’, ultimately securing first place and earning the title ‘Little Im Young-woong’ in the trot genre.
Son Tae-jin explains that in ‘Burning Trotman’, which had a system where the prize money accumulated through each round like an ‘audition squid game’, he amassed over 600 million won in prize money. After winning the final, he took home about 400 million won after taxes, surprising everyone.
Additionally, Son Tae-jin revealed that he sang ‘A Million Roses’ in front of the legendary figure of the Korean pop music scene, Shim Soo-bong, who is an unattainable presence for him, despite being his great-aunt. He mentions that Shim Soo-bong was a special judge during that audition and shares the reason he felt ‘awkward’ after hearing her feedback following his performance.
He moved everyone by singing Nam Jin's ‘Sangsahwa’ a cappella during the finals. It is said that he received thunderous applause and praise, with comments like “It’s possible because it’s Son Tae-jin.”
In particular, Son Tae-jin reveals the reason for his impatience due to the stage of ‘Others’, which has garnered about 10 million views on YouTube. He reportedly made everyone laugh by ordering a ‘song’ from Yoon Jong-shin, the head of his agency and a lyricist and composer, right there on the spot.
Son Tae-jin’s undeniable voice and witty remarks, which have crowned him the ‘master of transformation’ through auditions, can be confirmed on ‘Radio Star’, airing on the 22nd at 10:30 PM.
