'Round Table Lawyers' refused to take on a divorce case heading towards disaster.
In the third episode of SBS Life 'Round Table Lawyers' aired on the 27th, the unprecedented messy divorce cases 'The Path I Chose' and 'The Messy Love Agreement' were revealed.
The first client was a 33-year-old man in his second year of marriage, claiming either marriage nullification or annulment. The husband, a typical lifelong single, graduated from a prestigious music university, with his mother running a business in the U.S. and his brother working in the legal field, married a queen bee he met in a club after a premarital pregnancy.
However, the wife's pregnancy turned out to be a false pregnancy, and her profession was that of a karaoke assistant, with all her educational background and family circumstances being false. She had also been divorced before. She was having an affair with her ex-husband, and they had a son together. Upon confirming this, the three MCs unanimously remarked, "This is like an overseas topic," with Tak Jae-hoon saying, "She really lives a busy life," and Lee Ji-hye exclaiming, "Her schedule is just too packed."
The most shocking revelation was that the wife secretly took out four life insurance policies with the husband as the insured, leaving him in shock. Lee Ji-hye argued, "Not only should there be a marriage annulment lawsuit, but the wife also needs to face appropriate punishment," leading to the decision to take on the case.
The second client was a 38-year-old man in his fourth year of marriage with one son. They met in college and became colleagues at the same company before getting married. However, the wife committed adultery with a coworker, which was even reported on an anonymous site. The husband wanted a quick divorce and did not claim any property division, custody, or child support.
But there was a twist. It was revealed that the husband had cheated before the wife's infidelity. In response, the wife forgave the husband's infidelity while confessing her own and proposed a mutual infidelity agreement, a love pledge.
They agreed to the pledge and maintained their married life while having affairs, but when the husband’s son suddenly fell ill and the wife became unreachable, he tried to end the affair and nullify the agreement. However, the wife refused, and the husband wanted a divorce. Another twist revealed that the husband had not ended his affair.
Ultimately, the trust between the client and the lawyer was broken, leading to the decision not to take on the case.
The three lawyers analyzed various cases that day, explaining in detail the grounds for marriage annulment, the duration of infidelity lawsuits, property division, custody, child support, and damages in cases of divorce due to infidelity.
