Actor Lee Ik-kyung shed tears while mentioning his mother's health.
In the episode of MBC’s ‘Hyung, what are you doing?’ aired on the 30th, Lee Ik-kyung was seen going on a free trip with Haha and Joo Woo-jae.
On this day, Lee Ik-kyung showed Haha and Joo Woo-jae a map of famous restaurants he had saved on his phone, saying, “We are going to visit somewhere here today. I wanted to go on a trip together like this, but we ended up being arranged separately.”
When Haha and Joo Woo-jae still didn’t understand the situation, Lee Ik-kyung said, “I mixed the things I actually do alone with the things I wanted to do with you guys to plan this trip.”
Regarding the reason he wanted to travel with his older brothers, Lee Ik-kyung said, “I’ve always been comfortable being alone since I was young, and I had a clear boundary (for myself). Traveling alone became a habit, and I’ve traveled alone a lot for a long time. Now that I’m at an age where being alone is the most comfortable, I thought, ‘It would be nice to go with someone now,’ and ‘Why did I travel alone since my 20s?’”
He continued, “Now that I’m older, the members of ‘How Do You Play?’ feel like real older brothers to me. Haha has a lot in common with me, and Woo-jae is really different from me in every way. So I want to get to know them deeply, but I feel like I haven’t reached that level yet, so I’ve been feeling a thirst for that.”
Enjoying a relentless friendship trip in the cold, Lee Ik-kyung, Haha, and Joo Woo-jae shared their true feelings while eating sashimi at Daepo Port. Lee Ik-kyung said, “Jaeseok hyung is really making me a person. One day, I had a drinking session with advertisers. The next day, I felt like the recording went well. After that, a strange routine of drinking before going to the filming site was formed. But Jaeseok hyung knew everything. It wasn’t a joke; I got a call with harsh words. I even received a final warning.”
Hearing this, Haha said, “It was during the early days of ‘Infinite Challenge.’ I was an hour late for filming. No one was doing the opening and they were waiting for me. I ran over, and Jaeseok hyung scolded me, ‘Are you crazy? Who do you think you are? Is this funny? These people are risking their lives.’ I realized I was wrong, so I said, ‘I won’t do it again,’ and he told me, ‘You need to make three big laughs, ten medium laughs, and thirty small laughs today.’ I never drink the night before filming again. If I do, I send a text. That impact was strong.”
Family stories also came up. Lee Ik-kyung revealed, “My mother had surgery a few days ago.” He continued, “My mother recently had heart surgery. She told me, ‘After the surgery, my heart doesn’t hurt when I sleep, and it’s so good.’ Two days later, while drinking with my brother-in-law at my sister’s house, my sister asked, ‘Did you hear about mom?’ So I said, ‘I heard the surgery went well,’ and she replied, ‘What do you mean it went well?’ and started crying.”
Lee Ik-kyung said, “What I heard about my mother’s condition was so different. My father told me he was going to Thailand for a meeting, but it turned out he took me to a cold country for three weeks because (the blood vessels) constrict. I was the only one in the family who didn’t know.”
When Lee Ik-kyung said, “It’s so sad that I was the only one who found out late and misunderstood,” Joo Woo-jae comforted him, saying, “I know your personality; if we told you, you would drop everything and come, so we didn’t say anything. Now that you know the truth, you can study a lot and provide as much support as you can.”
