The anchor for 'MBC News Today' will change from announcer Lee Hwi-jun to reporter Son Ryeong.

Starting February 24, 'MBC News Today', which airs every Monday to Friday at 6 AM and Saturday at 7 AM, will be revamped. Reporter Son Ryeong will join as the new anchor, succeeding announcer Lee Hwi-jun, who has been active since 2021, and will work alongside anchor Lee Sun-young.

Reporter Son Ryeong joined MBC in 2012 and has covered major domestic and international issues, including the Israel-Palestine conflict, the earthquake in Morocco, the collapse of a dam in Laos, and the first and second North Korea-U.S. summits, as well as on-site reporting for the Rio, Pyeongchang, Tokyo, and Paris Olympics. She has also gained extensive reporting experience in various departments, including as a Paris correspondent, in the social affairs department, and in foreign security and investigative reporting.

Reporter Son stated, “Based on my rich reporting experience, I will help viewers easily understand yesterday's events and accurately foresee today’s news through News Today,” and added, “I will not shy away from contentious issues, but will ask the parties involved directly and convey the vivid backstories.” She also mentioned, “Given the harsh times, I will deliver news that is both cool-headed and warm.”

In this reorganization, a new interview segment on major issues will be established. The plan is to increase the participation of news stakeholders, including those in the political arena, and to connect with the field to provide in-depth coverage of the day's major issues and lively information.

Meanwhile, 'MBC News Today' will continue to reach viewers every Monday to Friday at 6 AM and Saturday at 7 AM.
