Yoo Jae-suk, Lee Yi-kyung, and Shim Eun-kyung met Matsushige Yutaka, who is famous for 'Lonely Gourmet' Goro-san.
In the episode aired on the afternoon of the 22nd, the MBC entertainment program 'What Do You Do When You Play?' (directed by Kim Jin-yong, Jang Woo-sung, Jang Hyo-jong, Wang Jong-seok, written by Choi Hye-jung) featured Yoo Jae-suk, Matsushige Yutaka, Lee Yi-kyung, and Shim Eun-kyung eating guamegi and tail soup.
In this broadcast, the four of them showcased a guamegi mukbang. Matsushige said, "This is the first time I've heard of guamegi. It's a food that doesn't exist in Japan..." hinting at a new mukbang experience.
After ordering guamegi, he asked, "I'm a beginner, so please tell me how to eat it from a beginner's perspective." Yoo Jae-suk, a huge fan of Matsushige, expressed, "It's such a great honor to see Matsushige-san eat in person. Really! Although I met you for the first time today, I feel an inner closeness. I saw a video of you eating cheonggukjang a week ago, and you enjoyed it so much that I actually ordered cheonggukjang myself," revealing his fan sentiment.
Matsushige placed guamegi dipped in spicy sauce on top of seaweed and kelp, chewing it and saying, "Oh, it doesn't taste fishy at all? It's delicious," enjoying the guamegi. Meanwhile, Jae-suk expressed, "I'm eating guamegi with Matsushige-san right now," feeling moved.
Casually wrapping the third bite, he remarked, "The umami is incredible. The texture of the kelp and seaweed is chewy," showcasing a mukbang that whetted the appetite despite it being his first encounter with guamegi. He asked, "Do people eat guamegi with alcohol?" recalling makgeolli and added, "When I came to Korea before, I found fresh makgeolli so delicious. But I couldn't bring it back to Japan. That's a bit regrettable," mentioning Korean makgeolli.
Shim Eun-kyung stated, "It's definitely an adult's food... But I've been really enjoying it lately, so when I come back from Japan, please order guamegi for me. I've been eating only guamegi for about 2-3 days," explaining her reason for recommending guamegi.
When Yoo Jae-suk said, "Matsushige-san resembles me a bit," Matsushige joked, "Is it the glasses? We should do something together," to which Jae-suk agreed, "Oh, that sounds good! 'Lonely Gourmet' and 'Lonely Picky Eater'." When Matsushige asked, "What can't you eat?" Yoo Jae-suk replied, "I can't eat raw fish well. I do eat sashimi, but it's a bit different. Sometimes I can eat it, and sometimes I can't. But I do eat sushi," he answered.
Matsushige responded, "That's a strange picky eater, isn't it? Your friends must have a hard time," throwing a direct comment, and Lee Yi-kyung added, "He has no friends. Even family shakes their heads!" making everyone burst into laughter.
When Yoo Jae-suk asked Matsushige how he enjoys his meals, he revealed, "I don't eat dinner the night before filming, and when the staff eats lunch, I just watch. When I'm really hungry, I take a spoonful!" Seeing his expression, Yoo Jae-suk exclaimed, "Ah, that expression! That's why it's so real!" in admiration.
Matsushige explained, "It's really real. Although it's a drama genre, it has a documentary-like quality. I usually don't eat much and eat little. But when filming, I eat a lot, but overall, the amount I eat is small. So during the filming period, I actually lose weight. But as an actor, I can't have weight fluctuations, right? I manage my body to maintain my weight," he replied.
He added, "I drive alone. It's uncomfortable if someone is in the car. So driving alone is not stressful for me."
He also mentioned that he directed, wrote, and starred in the upcoming movie 'Lonely Gourmet: The Movie', saying, "I go back and forth at a very fast speed. I just say, 'I'll check' and go," he said.
Next, the four of them headed to a tail soup restaurant in Namdaemun Market. After taking a bite of the braised tail, Matsushige exclaimed, "It's delicious! The meat itself isn't too salty, is it?" showing how he tore the bone with his hands. After tasting the broth, he said, "It's delicious. The broth is also tasty. It's not spicy at all," and continued to eat eagerly.

Meanwhile, Haha, Joo Woo-jae, Lee Mi-joo, and Park Jin-joo featured the 'Sweet Gourmet' segment. Haha, upon hearing the production team's comment that Joo Woo-jae would lead the restaurant exploration, exclaimed, "I don't want to go to the restaurant he goes to!" and later cheered upon the surprise visit of KCM.
Haha revealed, "Joo Woo-jae is the type to eat sweets from the morning," and Joo Woo-jae retorted, "Whatever happens, just try not to eat," hinting at revenge.
Arriving at a bakery for breakfast, they chose sweet desserts. The five of them showcased a mukbang with chocolate cookies, raspberry pistachio cookies, and strawberry cream cakes, with Lee Mi-joo and Park Jin-joo exclaiming, "It's really delicious!" and "This is tasty!" Joo Woo-jae, who usually fills his mouth with food, asked, "How's the cake?" while KCM and Haha only drank coffee. Joo Woo-jae, frustrated, said, "Why aren't you eating? I'm so annoyed!" to which Haha replied, "Everyone has their own eating style!" refusing to eat.
After heading to the second cafe, Joo Woo-jae said, "Let's loosen up a bit," and upon seeing kimchi on the menu, requested, "Let's get one kimchi per person." KCM expressed, "There are various types of kimchi, like fresh, aged, and moderately fermented, but I like fresh kimchi! Wow, fresh kimchi looks really delicious," smiling broadly.
However, when the kimchi was served, the members gasped, "What is this?" and Joo Woo-jae exclaimed, "I told you. There must be kimchi. Kimchi and cream cheese!" revealing the hidden appearance of the kimchi. KCM was left speechless, saying, "Kimchi that you tear apart..." and Haha tried to console himself, saying, "This place is amazing."
Pretending to be deceived, Haha and KCM took a bite of the kimchi, exclaiming, "Oh! It's really delicious," and "Wow, why is this so tasty?" However, they soon wondered, "How delicious would this be if we ate it with rice? We could eat four plates if we had rice," making everyone laugh.
Later, the five arrived at Yeonhwa Temple, where the members requested, "Can we have some vegetables...," and "Is there mountain vegetable bibimbap?" The monk replied, "But the temple doesn't serve food after mealtime. Still, there are things better than rice," leading the members.
However, what lay before them was a tea table adorned with Dubai chocolate, and Haha and KCM stared at Joo Woo-jae as if to pierce him. Lee Mi-joo exclaimed, "We haven't eaten chocolate today," in disbelief, and Joo Woo-jae cheekily remarked, "Isn't there a folding screen here? Your gazes are too hot."
Haha seemed to take a big bite of the chocolate but ended up performing a mime, prompting Joo Woo-jae to scold, "What are you doing at a temple?"
Unlike the five indulging in sweets, Yoo Jae-suk, Matsushige, Lee Yi-kyung, and Shim Eun-kyung tasted the tail soup. After eating the meat, Matsushige said, "It's delicious! Should I add some rice?" following Yoo Jae-suk's lead, and exclaimed, "Ah~ it's delicious! Kimchi? Should I add some too? The flavor is getting richer and it's tasty," enjoying the meal.
Matsushige commented, "When eating food that you have to tear apart like crab, everyone goes quiet. Can we even broadcast like this?" and Yoo Jae-suk expressed, "Eating together in the same place is a great happiness for me. Thank you," showing his true fan side until the end.
Jae-suk asked, "Since I've become close with Matsushige-san today, can I tell others that we're close?" and Matsushige coolly replied, "Of course." Matsushige also expressed his interest in Korean food, saying, "These days, convenience stores in Korea have a lot of desserts. I bought a cake with cream in the middle and ate it at the hotel. I also enjoyed a croissant pressed into a crung," sharing his experiences with Korean food.
MBC's 'What Do You Do When You Play?' airs every Saturday at 6:30 PM.
