The oldest active actress Kim Young-ok does not hold back her criticism of the awards ceremony.
The MBC entertainment program ‘Radio Star’, airing on the 5th at 10:30 PM, will feature a special episode titled ‘Suspicious Women’ with guests Kim Young-ok, Na Moon-hee, Yang Jung-a, Kim Jae-hwa, and Kim Ah-young.
Actress Kim Young-ok received the Best Actress award alongside her close friend Na Moon-hee at the ‘2024 Seoul International Film Awards’ at the end of last year. She expressed her disappointment by saying, “In the past, when you received an award, you also got a prize…” which drew laughter from the audience.
Additionally, Kim Young-ok shares a touching story about shedding tears while listening to the acceptance speech of actor Lee Soon-jae, who won the KBS Acting Awards last year. After hearing Lee Soon-jae's first acceptance speech for the acting award, she felt that he had said everything he wanted to say, noting that he had worked on five dramas and one film, as well as fixed narration activities last year, which surprised everyone. She expressed her heartfelt agreement with his speech.
Moreover, regarding being called a ‘hardworking actress’ who works like a cow, Kim Young-ok humorously says, “I was born in the Year of the Ox~.” She mentioned that last year alone, she worked on five dramas, one film, and fixed narration activities, which astonished those around her. Particularly, as a voice actor, she revealed that she is currently a fixed narrator for both ‘6 O'Clock My Hometown’ and EBS, which impressed everyone, and she reportedly confirmed her status as an icon of hard work by saying, “I live for this fun.”
Meanwhile, Kim Young-ok draws attention by revealing her over 60-year friendship with her lifelong friend Na Moon-hee. She said, “It feels like we’ve lived our whole lives together,” and surprised everyone by stating that they even remember each other's first impressions. While Kim Young-ok felt like Na Moon-hee was ‘family’ from the moment she first saw her, Na Moon-hee humorously described Kim Young-ok's first impression as “a bit of a snob,” which brought great laughter.
Kim Young-ok also shares behind-the-scenes stories about the film ‘Picnic’, for which she and Na Moon-hee jointly won the Best Actress award. She mentioned that the joint award made it even more meaningful, and particularly noted that the scene where they bathe together allowed them to reflect on life and friendship, drawing interest.
