Broadcaster Kang Byeong-kyu shared a drinking anecdote with trot singer Kim Ho-joong, who was sentenced to prison for drunk hit-and-run in the first trial.
On the 3rd, a video titled '[Non Non Non] You went down after drinking, right? ep.2' was posted on the YouTube channel 'Channel Fixed'. In the video, Shin Jeong-hwan, Kang Byeong-kyu, exorcist Lim Deok-young, and trot singer Jang Hye-ri discussed various topics related to drinking, during which they mentioned Kim Ho-joong, who was sentenced to prison for drunk hit-and-run in the first trial.
Kang Byeong-kyu said, "I have had drinks with Ho-joong about two times. Having lived in Gangnam for a long time, we naturally started greeting each other," and added, "Ho-joong is very manly and open during drinking. He comforts me, who is much older, and says, 'If I can help, please call me anytime when you do something in the future.' It was touching."
He continued, "However, I thought, 'This guy shouldn't drink,' because he couldn't control his drinking. So I told him, 'Ho-joong, the people who are buying you drinks, inviting you to drink, giving you pocket money, and gifting you might not be helpful to you,' and he said, 'I understand.' But then, five minutes later, he said, 'Hyung, I'll take care of you, shall we go for a drink?' and suggested going to 'XXX'."
Kang Byeong-kyu mentioned, "That day, Ho-joong kept getting calls from XXX. XXX is where such friends are the best customers, and it's an opportunity for them to showcase their status to the customers, so they treat them generously with free drinks. That's why, even at a young age, he can't help but feel proud. Isn't it the temptation that he couldn't escape that led to the incident?"
Meanwhile, Kim Ho-joong caused an accident while driving under the influence at 11:44 PM on May 9 last year on Apgujeong-ro in Gangnam, Seoul, and fled the scene. After the incident, his manager, Mr. Jang, turned himself in, and there were allegations of organized crime concealment, including the head of the agency swallowing the vehicle's black box memory.
Kim Ho-joong, who was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison in the first trial, immediately appealed, and the second trial is currently underway.
