Jeon Hyun-moo, who has returned as the MC of ‘Dad and Me’, expressed his thoughts, stating that “Season 2 is like an unscripted drama,” and hinted at key points that will enhance the immersion.

The much-talked-about family entertainment show on TV CHOSUN, ‘Dad and Me’, is set to premiere its second season on the 11th. Jeon Hyun-moo will once again serve as the MC and ‘son representative’, meeting viewers alongside the show.

In the previous season, Jeon Hyun-moo led the program by empathizing with and sometimes getting angry at the diverse family stories, including ‘K-daughters’, two mothers, divorce, estrangement, awkward father-son relationships, and authoritarian fathers. Viewers were able to cry and laugh with Jeon Hyun-moo, naturally immersing themselves in the stories of the stars.

With just a week left until the first broadcast of Season 2, Jeon Hyun-moo shared a brief sentiment, saying, “I will lead ‘Dad and Me’ Season 2 with deep empathy and witty remarks.” He revealed the key points to watch for in Season 2 as the ‘empathy fairy’ and ‘long-time host’ of ‘Dad and Me’.

◆ An unscripted ‘real’ family story

Jeon Hyun-moo: What I felt while meeting various families this season is that ‘Dad and Me’ feels like an unscripted drama. The real stories of families seem like our own family stories, and the unpredictable situations will spark curiosity and add fun for the viewers. As the son representative, I am particularly looking forward to this aspect.

Additionally, Season 2 will capture moments where family members support each other and reflect on the meaning of ‘dad’ throughout life’s journey. Through the stories of fathers who serve as the sturdy backbone of their families, it will be an opportunity to revisit the meaning of ‘true family’.

◆ Deepened family ‘reunion’ stories

Jeon Hyun-moo: Last season, the family story of Lee Seung-yeon, who revealed her two mothers and father, and the story of teacher Baek Il-seob and his daughter, who had been estranged for seven years, were at the center of attention. This season, there are also family ‘reunion’ stories that will evoke tears and empathy from the viewers. The story of Lee Geon-joo, who began his journey as a shaman after being a national child actor, and had to be estranged from his father for ten years, as well as the story of his mother, whom he has never seen and doesn’t even know her name, will present even deeper moments of ‘family reunion’.

◆ A generational empathy program that fosters ‘communication’ among families

Jeon Hyun-moo: The father generation, who were busy making a living and became distant from their families, and the children, who have become independent and started new families, often put their parents on the back burner... By observing the stories of these two generations, which have very different ways of communicating and what they want to talk about, I believe we can find answers on how to bridge the gap between parents and children, and what methods of ‘communication’ can bring them closer together.

The heartbreaking family story shared by actor and shaman Lee Geon-joo, and the relationship between chef Lee Gyeong-rae and his father, which is worse than that of colleagues, will be featured in TV CHOSUN’s ‘Dad and Me’ Season 2, premiering on the 11th at 10 PM.
