KBS's 34th class of newcomer comedians has brought a new breeze to 'Gag Concert'.
KBS2's 'Gag Concert' changed its broadcast time to Sunday prime time at 9:20 PM starting from the 16th. With the schedule change, the viewership rating also rose to 3.1% (based on Nielsen Korea nationwide), laying the groundwork for another peak period.
In particular, the 34th class newcomers, including Kang Myung-sun, Kang Joo-won, Kim Ga-eun, Seo Seong-kyung, Seo Yu-gi, Son Min-kyung, Son Yu-dam, Ahn Hyun-woo, Eo Young-jin, Yoo Yeon-jo, Yoon Jae-woong, Jo Jin-hyung, Han Soo-chan, and Hwang Hye-sun, who passed the fierce competition with a ratio of 32:1, are expected to be catalysts for the revival of 'Gag Concert'. The 14 rookie comedians, who have been accepted for less than two weeks, took the stage of 'Gag Concert' from the last broadcast and successfully made their debut.
The 34th class newcomers played a significant role as assistants to senior comedians. In 'Defconn, How About It', male newcomers like Seo Yu-gi and Yoon Jae-woong showed their passion without holding back, while in 'Australopithecus', Seo Seong-kyung, Son Min-kyung, and Hwang Hye-sun created laughter alongside special guest comedian Yoo Se-yoon from the 19th class.
In 'Simgo Police Station', the new characters prepared by the newcomers captured the audience's laughter. Son Min-kyung, Son Yu-dam, and Seo Seong-kyung appeared as a trio of discordant buskers, while Yoo Yeon-jo played a troublemaking rapper, actively delivering laughter with their unique confidence and spirit. In 'Such a Kind Love', Hwang Hye-sun showcased her presence as 'Japanese Girlfriend' Haruki, who speaks Japanese that sounds like swearing.
Injecting newcomers into 'Gag Concert', which has just changed its schedule to prime time, was a bold move by the production team. Responding to the expectations of the production team, the newcomers made a strong impression on the viewers with their prepared skills and passion for the stage.
In particular, the way they built their own characters while interacting with senior comedians added new vitality to the program, and this bold decision by the production team is expected to lead to the long-term development of 'Gag Concert'.
A representative from 'Gag Concert' stated, "The passion and enthusiasm of the 34th class newcomers are injecting new energy into the program," and added, "We will provide laughter that all generations can enjoy with more diverse and fresh comedy, harmonizing senior and junior comedians."
