Broadcaster Seo Jang-hoon criticized parents who do not return the money their son earned.
On the 20th, the final mediation of the 9th couple was conducted on JTBC's 'Divorce Reflection Camp'.
On this day, Seo Jang-hoon said, "The wife of the soccer couple applied for the camp due to conflicts with her in-laws caused by her husband's lies and his economic incompetence."
The mediator asked the soccer couple about their intention to divorce. Both the wife and husband expressed their intention to divorce. Accordingly, they began discussing mediation matters based on the premise of divorce.
The husband's lawyer, Park Min-cheol, stated, "The husband has been responsible for economic activities throughout their marriage. Regarding the jeonse deposit, the husband claims 4 and the wife claims 6. The debt was incurred for the joint living of the family, so it should be split evenly, and since the household appliances were purchased with the husband's card, he claims to take them."
The wife's lawyer, Yang Na-rae, rebutted the husband's claims, saying, "The wife contributed 38 million won to the jeonse deposit. That money was not a gift from her mother but a loan. It is a debt that needs to be repaid, so the jeonse deposit should go to the wife. The husband said the debt arose because of insufficient joint living expenses, but there is no evidence that all this debt is related to joint living expenses."
She continued, "While maintaining the marriage, the husband did not receive money back from his in-laws, threatened with suicide, and verbally abused. Considering all of this, I claim 50 million won in alimony."
The mediator asked the wife, "If you had known that your husband couldn't bring money from his family, would you have married him?" The wife replied, "Did I not give birth to a child? If I had known that my husband would not change, I would have rather given birth and raised the child alone. If he felt responsible for raising the child, I thought he could at least bring about 10 million won. But the husband showed no effort at all," she said, tearing up.
Park Min-cheol, the husband's lawyer, rebutted that the husband also tried to receive money, but the mediator said, "It doesn't make sense that someone who concedes to parents and siblings cannot concede to his wife. Because the wife is the first family."
Meanwhile, Park Min-cheol stated, "The husband said he would strongly ask his parents to provide financial support, even if it means reducing the size of their apartment." To this, the wife responded, "The fact that he made such a decision and spoke about it in front of everyone makes me feel that he is really trying to be on my side. I feel sorry, grateful, and touched."
The husband said, "If I had tried earlier, it wouldn't have come to this. I think I regret that part."
Seo Jang-hoon advised the husband's parents, "Don't keep burdening your son. Even if he doesn't talk about it, you should give him money first. If you don't have it, reduce your house size or take out a loan, but you need to resolve the money issue."
