'Treasure Island' Park Hyung-sik has truly delivered a blow to Heo Jun-ho and Lee Hae-young.
According to Nielsen Korea, the 9th episode of SBS's Friday-Saturday drama 'Treasure Island' (written by Lee Myung-hee, directed by Jin Chang-kyu), which aired on the 21st, recorded a nationwide rating of 12.2% and a rating of 12.2% in the metropolitan area, ranking first among all channels in the same time slot and securing the top spot for the week among mini-series. The peak rating soared to 13.2%, and the 2049 rating also topped the previous programs aired on Friday (including dramas, entertainment, and news) with a rating of 2.8%.
In this episode, Seo Dong-joo (played by Park Hyung-sik) once again overcame a life-threatening crisis, putting pressure on Yeom Jang-seon (played by Heo Jun-ho) and Heo Il-do (played by Lee Hae-young) one after another, setting the stage for revenge. For viewers who witnessed Seo Dong-joo's struggles, it was a thrilling 60 minutes, filled with anticipation for the next step of revenge.
Earlier, Ye Eun-nam (played by Hong Hwa-yeon) was shocked to learn that it was Yeom Jang-seon and Heo Il-do who had pushed her beloved Seo Dong-joo to the brink of death. In response, Ye Eun-nam revealed that she knew all the facts and tried to escape from Yeom Jang-seon's grasp. However, Yeom Jang-seon planned to eliminate both Seo Dong-joo and Ye Eun-nam.
Seo Dong-joo locked eyes with Heo Il-do during a scuffle with the administrator (played by Seong No-jin) who had attacked him. Heo Il-do had come to kill Seo Dong-joo after hearing Yeom Jang-seon's orders, but he hesitated upon seeing his son Heo Tae-yoon (played by Yoon Sang-hyun) approaching Seo Dong-joo, realizing his mistake. After regaining his composure, he found Seo Dong-joo in a standoff with the administrator. Heo Il-do injected the administrator with the syringe he had brought instead of Seo Dong-joo.
Once the situation was settled, Seo Dong-joo asked Heo Il-do, "Why did you spare me today?" and added, "I saved you twice, once when you fell into the sea, and right here, right now. I'm not killing you; I'm saving you," putting pressure on him. It was a situation that was nothing short of humiliation for Heo Il-do. After hearing from the administrator that Yeom Jang-seon planned to kill Ye Eun-nam, Seo Dong-joo snatched Heo Il-do's phone and rushed to Ye Eun-nam.
Thanks to Seo Dong-joo, Ye Eun-nam was saved. Seo Dong-joo simultaneously pressured Yeom Jang-seon with Heo Il-do's phone and the phone taken from the hitman Yeom Jang-seon had sent after Ye Eun-nam. He then provocatively called Yeom Jang-seon, saying, "Wait. I'll return everything," and even stormed into the place where Yeom Jang-seon was.
In response to Seo Dong-joo's relentless provocation, Yeom Jang-seon became extremely furious and pulled out his gun again. However, Seo Dong-joo had already met with the elder (played by Choi Kwang-il) whom Yeom Jang-seon served and completed the preliminary work. Ultimately, under the elder's pressure, Yeom Jang-seon had no choice but to lower his gun. The elder did not stop there and pressured Seo Dong-joo to take over the management of the political slush fund of 2 trillion won tied up in a Swiss account. Once again, it was a complete defeat for Yeom Jang-seon.
Seo Dong-joo warned Yeom Jang-seon, "I will kill you when your life is worth the value of my revenge." Furthermore, upon returning to the Daesan family, he declared to Heo Il-do, "You, Representative Heo, are an attempted murderer who failed to kill me, Seo Dong-joo. I will make good use of that weakness from now on." The episode ended with the contrasting images of the triumphant Seo Dong-joo and the pressured Heo Il-do.
Episode 9 of 'Treasure Island' captured the intense developments as Seo Dong-joo delivered blows to Yeom Jang-seon and Heo Il-do one after another, providing viewers with extreme tension and excitement. Additionally, the changes in Daesan Group Chairman Cha Gang-cheon (played by Woo Hyun), the meeting between Cha Gang-cheon and his illegitimate child Ji Seon-woo (played by Cha Woo-min), the resulting anxiety among the Daesan family members, and clues regarding the child named 'Seong-hyun' were gradually introduced, sparking viewer interest.
