The peak rating soared to 14.7%, and the 2049 rating, a key indicator of channel competitiveness, also recorded 2.8%.
With this, 'Treasure Island' has claimed the top spot in the Saturday mini-series, the top spot across all channels during the same time slot, and the top spot in weekly dramas, truly sweeping the ratings rankings. The astonishing rise of 'Treasure Island' is both surprising and remarkable.
In this episode, the secret of Seo Dong-joo's (played by Park Hyung-sik) birth began to gradually take shape. However, the revelation of this birth secret was so shocking that it turned the living rooms upside down. The plot is filled with twists and turns that keep the viewers on edge.
Earlier, Seo Dong-joo declared to Yeom Jang-seon (played by Heo Joon-ho), "What I want is revenge," and stated, "I will kill you when your life is worth my revenge." He also warned Heo Il-do, saying, "You are an attempted murderer who failed to kill Seo Dong-joo. I will make good use of that weakness." True to his words, Seo Dong-joo began his revenge in earnest, putting pressure on both men from all angles.
First, Seo Dong-joo returned to Daesan Group and hurried the promotion of Chief Choi (played by Kim Min-sang) to vice president at the behest of Chairman Cha Gang-cheon (played by Woo Hyun). At the same time, he sought out Ji Young-soo (played by Do Ji-won) to use the card of Cha Gang-cheon's illegitimate child, Cha Seon-woo (played by Cha Woo-min), and unexpectedly encountered Cha Deok-hee (played by Kim Jung-nan), the eldest daughter of Cha Gang-cheon and wife of Heo Il-do. Seo Dong-joo's swift actions heightened the anxiety of the Heo Il-do and Cha Deok-hee couple.
Seo Dong-joo also used Manager (played by Seong No-jin) and Jo Yang-chun (played by Kim Gi-mu) as pawns to continue the pressure on Yeom Jang-seon. In particular, the mention of 'Dandelion data' from the two could become a significant weakness for Yeom Jang-seon, prompting Seo Dong-joo to think quickly. The 'Dandelion data' refers to information on key figures that the former National Security Agency had surveilled, and Yeom Jang-seon was also among the targets.
Throughout this process, it was revealed that all the circumstances were part of Seo Dong-joo's grand plan, delivering a shock. In fact, Seo Dong-joo had already regained his memory when he saved Heo Il-do from drowning. Seo Dong-joo had saved Heo Il-do, who shot him, for the sake of revenge. When Heo Il-do asked why he saved him, Seo Dong-joo ominously replied, "You will come to know the pain that will make your bones ache."
Meanwhile, after hearing from the manager, "I know your father well," Seo Dong-joo began searching for his biological father, who might be related to the name 'Seong-hyun.' Seo Dong-joo believed that his biological father was the same person as his deceased sister's father. However, Seo Dong-joo was not related by blood to his deceased sister at all.
During this time, Seo Dong-joo obtained an old photograph, in which the person holding young Dong-joo was Yeosun-ho (played by Joo Sang-wook). The Madam (played by Son Ji-na) suggested that the Yeosun-ho in the photo might be Seo Dong-joo's biological father. Later, Seo Dong-joo showed the photo to Yeo Eun-nam (played by Hong Hwa-yeon). At that moment, Yeo Eun-nam pointed to Yeosun-ho and said, "That's my dad." The episode ended with Seo Dong-joo in shock.
Episode 10 of 'Treasure Island' depicted Seo Dong-joo's meticulous and intricate revenge against Yeom Jang-seon and Heo Il-do, heightening the tension. The ending threw in an unimaginable clue related to the secret of Seo Dong-joo's birth, delivering a significant shock. The detailed performances of the actors kept viewers glued to the screen for even a second. With each passing episode, anticipation for the next episode of 'Treasure Island' grows stronger.
