Actress Kim Young-ok shed tears while reading the last diary of the late Kim Soo-mi.
On the 25th, the TV Chosun program ‘Dad and Me’ depicted the stories of the family left behind after the passing of Kim Soo-mi.
On this day, the couple Seo Hyo-rim and Jung Myung-ho visited the home of the late Kim Soo-mi. The two could not hide their emptiness in the now cold and empty house.
Two suitcases filled with the belongings of the late Kim Soo-mi. Seo Hyo-rim shared, “I organized the house two weeks after she passed away. I couldn’t stand it if I didn’t do it. Now I wonder why I cleaned it up so quickly,” expressing her complicated feelings.
Seo Hyo-rim and Jung Myung-ho returned home with a bag of the late Kim Soo-mi's belongings. The couple began to sort through Kim Soo-mi's possessions.
Upon seeing Kim Soo-mi's trophies, Seo Hyo-rim remarked, “My mother-in-law really liked these trophies.” She continued, “From the perspective of a fellow actress, I feel very envious. The fact that there are so many trophies means someone remembers you,” she said.
The bag of belongings contained numerous bankbooks and lottery tickets that are now discontinued, drawing attention. When Seo Hyo-rim asked, “Why did you collect all of this?” Jung Myung-ho replied, “Old people tend to do that.”
Albums and diaries capturing the vibrant youth of the late Kim Soo-mi were also revealed. Jung Myung-ho, unable to take his eyes off Kim Soo-mi's wedding photo, said, “She looks like a shy bride smiling in a way I’ve never seen before. I think that photo will stay with me for a while.”
In Kim Soo-mi's diary, her affection and apologies towards Jung Myung-ho were recorded. Seo Hyo-rim stated, “My life changed before and after seeing my mother-in-law's diary. I felt sorry for my husband. There were many stories, but there were so many about her son. It made me realize how well she could write.”
Seo Hyo-rim and Jung Myung-ho made kimchi stew with the late Kim Soo-mi's last kimchi and served it to Kim Young-ok, a close friend of Kim Soo-mi. Seo Hyo-rim mentioned that there were entries about Kim Young-ok in Kim Soo-mi's diary and handed it over.
While reading the diary about herself, Kim Young-ok discovered the last entry. The final diary entry read, “I need to stop taking medicine for the sake of our grandchild. Lord, please help me. My pronunciation is strange, and I spill food while eating and my hands tremble.”
Kim Young-ok left a letter for the late Kim Soo-mi saying, “Soo-mi, let’s meet soon. Let’s act together in that world too. You did so well until now.”
