'New Recruit 3' returns with even more laughter and empathy.
The production team of the Genie TV original drama 'New Recruit 3' (written by Yoon Gi-young and Kang Go-eun, directed by Min Jin-ki and Jo Je-wook) released the main trailer on the 28th, showcasing the spectacular and chaotic scenes of the Mythical Unit.
'New Recruit' has received immense love across all seasons, regardless of gender or generation, thanks to its unique characters, the realistic performances of its actors, and the delightful blend of comedy and relatable reality. Returning with high expectations, 'New Recruit 3' depicts the heightened military life of Park Min-seok (played by Kim Min-ho), who faces complications ahead of his promotion to Corporal, alongside the unpredictable transfer of two new recruits and the return of an all-time great villain. The 'New Recruits' Kim Min-ho, Nam Tae-woo, Lee Sang-jin, Jo Jin-se, Lee Chung-gu, Kim Hyun-kyu, Lee Jeong-hyun, Jeon Seung-hoon, and Lee Soo-ji carry the show once again with their evolved military life cheat codes, as their experience grows. The performances of the much-talked-about 'new faces' Kim Dong-jun, Oh Dae-hwan, and Kim Yo-han are also drawing attention. Particularly, the collaboration between director Min Jin-ki, who has broken the barriers between drama and variety with the 'military content' genre, and comedy master writer Yoon Gi-young is exciting drama fans even more.
Meanwhile, the released main trailer is anything but ordinary, sparking curiosity with the dynamic portrayal of the Mythical Unit members. The new company commander Jo Baek-ho (played by Oh Dae-hwan) exudes charisma that makes everyone tense, but the love-struck commander’s unexpected charm, spreading the message of "I love you," seems to bring peace to the Mythical Unit. However, strange changes begin with the arrival of two new recruits, whose visuals are captivating enough to charm even the unit members. Jeon Se-gye (played by Kim Dong-jun), equipped with perfect abs, threatens the position of 'military spoon' Park Min-seok, while Moon Bit-na-ri (played by Kim Yo-han), reminiscent of Park Min-seok's rookie days, provokes the anger of the seniors with her unconventional initiation, adding to the humor. Above all, the confrontation between the returning villain Seong Yoon-mo (played by Kim Hyun-kyu) and Commander Jo Baek-ho hints at a fierce storm ahead. The commander's chilling warning, "Let's keep it quiet. Don't cause any trouble," further piques curiosity.
The return of Park Min-joo (played by Lee Soo-ji), the embodiment of a steel soldier, is also welcomed. From breaking hardtack with one hand to merciless demonstrations, his 'real' soldier moments are highly anticipated. The missile emergency faced by Choi Il-goo (played by Nam Tae-woo) in his final year as a private is a shock, and his tears foreshadow the heightened military life of the new recruits. In this season 3, episodes will feature larger-than-life stories beyond the barracks, including extreme cold training and reserve forces training, along with even more unique characters.
Immediately after the release of the main trailer, various online forums and social media were flooded with reactions such as "As expected from the New Recruits, let's secure the laughter," "The extreme cold training in the final year is too much! I empathize 200% with Choi Il-goo's tears," "The extreme contrasts of the new recruits are already fun from the visuals," and "I'm most curious about the return of villain Seong Yoon-mo."
Meanwhile, the Genie TV original drama 'New Recruit 3' will premiere on April 7 at 10 PM on channel ENA, and will be exclusively available for free VOD on KT Genie TV right after the main broadcast every Monday and Tuesday at 10 PM. It can also be watched on the OTT platform Tving.
