Singer Hong Ji-yoon showed her exceptional passion for cooking.
On the 28th, Hong Ji-yoon appeared on KBS2's 'Newly Released Pyeon Restaurant' as a special MC and also took on the challenge of cooking as Lee Yeon-bok's 'first intern chef'.
On that day, introduced as a 'cooking rookie', Hong Ji-yoon stated, "Master Lee Yeon-bok accepted me as his disciple and offered to help, so I gathered my courage to take on the challenge." Lee Yeon-bok supported Hong Ji-yoon's challenge, saying, "I really took a big step to accept her as the first intern chef on 'Pyeon Restaurant'."
Following this, a video of Hong Ji-yoon's cooking challenge was released. Meeting with the production team, Hong Ji-yoon confessed, "Not everyone likes to see me cook," admitting she is a well-known 'cooking novice'. She revealed, "I cook once every two weeks," and her empty refrigerator, mostly filled with ready-to-eat meals, proved that she doesn't cook often.
Hong Ji-yoon said, "But I can do it. I have confidence," and added, "I want to show that I can cook well. Once I set my mind to it, I will do it with determination." She decided to invite guests to showcase her skills, hinting, "I will invite someone I really like," and began preparing a fine dining style menu along with table settings.
Hong Ji-yoon chose challenging dishes such as truffle foie gras with caviar, seasonal oyster salad from Tongyeong, pot barbecue with garlic sauce, and duck soup. She expressed confidence, saying, "I think everything will be done in under two hours. I studied hard and even made a recipe notebook."
Although Hong Ji-yoon faced obstacles, she completed the cooking after various twists and turns. Kim Yeon-ja, who tasted Hong Ji-yoon's dishes, showed warm camaraderie by supporting her cooking challenge.
Afterward, Hong Ji-yoon had an honest conversation with Kim Yeon-ja about their activities and concluded their meeting with a duet performance of 'Amor Fati'. Finally, Hong Ji-yoon expressed, "I wanted to show who I am. I wanted to show that I am challenging myself, preparing, and growing," raising expectations for her future activities.
