Singer Tae has sparked an online debate after expressing "It's unfortunate" during a live radio broadcast regarding the death of former People Power Party member Jang Je-won.

On the morning of the 1st, Tae hosted MBC FM4U's 'Good Morning FM Tae'. During the radio segment 'Today's Keyword News', the news of the late former lawmaker Jang Je-won's death was mentioned, and Tae shared his personal opinion, stating, "It's unfortunate."

Listeners reacted negatively to Tae's comments, saying things like "Not unfortunate at all," "The victims must have had a hard time," and "A cowardly choice that does not take responsibility for one's actions." In the heated atmosphere, some listeners defended Tae, saying, "Can’t we even say it’s unfortunate when someone has died?"

According to the police, former lawmaker Jang Je-won was found dead in an officetel in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, at around 11:40 PM on March 31. A police official stated, "No signs of foul play were found."

Jang, who served as a three-term lawmaker, was under police investigation for allegedly committing sexual violence (quasi-rape causing injury) against his secretary A in November 2015 while he was the vice president of a university in Busan.

Jang's side has denied the allegations of sexual assault made by A, and it is reported that he completely denied the charges during a police summons investigation on the 28th of last month.

A's side had initially planned to hold a press conference at 10 AM that day to explain the circumstances of the complaint, but it was hastily canceled after the news of Jang's death broke. With the death of the involved party, the police investigation is expected to conclude with "no prosecution rights."
