‘Shinbyung3’ announces the deployment of a special forces unit that makes waiting enjoyable.

The highly anticipated Genie TV original drama ‘Shinbyung3’ (written by Yoon Gi-young and Kang Go-eun, directed by Min Jin-ki and Jo Je-wook), which will be released on April 7 at 10 PM, depicts the unpredictable transfer of two new recruits and the return of an unprecedented villain, causing a crisis in the Mythical Unit, as Corporal Park Min-seok (played by Kim Min-ho) faces a significantly more challenging military life just before his promotion.

The cast of ‘Shinbyung3’ including Kim Min-ho, Nam Tae-woo, Lee Sang-jin, Jo Jin-se, Lee Chung-gu, Kim Hyun-kyu, Lee Jeong-hyun, Jeon Seung-hoon, and Lee Soo-ji, once again hard carry the show with their evolved military life cheat codes, as their experience (vibe from time served) has increased. The performances of the much-talked-about 'new faces' Kim Dong-jun, Oh Dae-hwan, and Kim Yo-han are also drawing attention. In particular, the collaboration between the pioneer of 'military content' director Min Jin-ki and comedy master writer Yoon Gi-young is making viewers even more excited.

Director Min Jin-ki, who successfully led the previous two seasons, expressed that he felt a burden presenting the third season. He stated, "I resolved to deliver even bigger laughs. As I wrapped up filming for ‘Shinbyung3’, I felt like I was completing three military service periods and being discharged. It was physically challenging, but at the same time, I created many memories, making it even more memorable," sharing his heartfelt thoughts.

The ‘Shinbyung’ series has broken the barriers between drama and entertainment, marking a new chapter in the comedy genre. This is rooted in Director Min Jin-ki's special belief. He explained, "I believe that the laughter pursued by comedy dramas should start from relatable and natural experiences." He added, "In that sense, the ‘Shinbyung’ series, set against a military backdrop, has been able to reach this point thanks to the love and support of the viewers."

He continued, "Compared to previous seasons, ‘Shinbyung3’ has added more charm points with richer characters. While the previous seasons focused on hyper-realistic character play, this time, new characters like the warm-hearted Captain Jo Baek-ho, who reminds us of Park Min-seok's rookie days, and the super soldier Sergeant Park Min-joo have joined, enhancing the situational comedy." This statement heightened expectations.

Writer Yoon Gi-young also identified the keywords for season 3 as character, empathy, and growth. He explained, "The charm of ‘Shinbyung3’ lies in seeing relatable characters, who could be found around us, living together, facing everyday incidents and emotions that can happen in the military, and growing through laughter."

With everything upgraded, what has changed the most? In response, Director Min Jin-ki explained, "‘Shinbyung3’ has more episodes and richer characters, so I focused on enhancing the dramatic fun. Therefore, I tried to depict individual emotions, concerns, and conflicts between ranks as detailed and realistically as possible."

Writer Yoon Gi-young also mentioned, "During the planning stage, we prioritized finding materials that could definitely happen in the military through various consultations and interviews with soldiers, military prosecutors, and active-duty soldiers." He added, "We thought a lot about themes and incidents that were not covered in previous seasons or that could potentially happen."

Finally, Director Min Jin-ki stated, "We worked hard to provide all the fun that a series drama can offer, including enhanced comedy, satire and humor about the absurdities within the military, rich characters, romance, and parodies." He expressed, "If this work can bring a smile to those living a tough life, I would have no further wishes."

In addition, writer Yoon Gi-young remarked, "The return of ‘Shinbyung3’ is thanks to the viewers who enjoyed seasons 1 and 2. The production team and actors have prepared intensely to repay that expectation and interest, so you can look forward to a more grown-up ‘Shinbyung3’ than the previous seasons."

Meanwhile, the Genie TV original drama ‘Shinbyung3’ will premiere on April 7 (Monday) at 10 PM on channel ENA, and will be exclusively available for free VOD on KT Genie TV immediately after the main broadcast every Monday and Tuesday at 10 PM. It can also be watched on Tving.
