The PD of 'Korean's Table' revealed the reason for choosing Choi Soo-jong as the successor to Choi Bool-am.
On the morning of the 10th, a press conference was held at the KBS New Building in Seoul for the 700th episode of KBS1's 'Korean's Table' and the new presenter. PD Lim Gi-soon, writer Jeon Seon-ae, and actor Choi Soo-jong attended.
PD Lim Gi-soon said, "It was a deep concern about who should be the next presenter. I considered the conditions for the presenter, and the most important thing was that they should have high public recognition that anyone, regardless of age or gender, could know and welcome."
He continued, "I hoped that the person would be someone who could express warmth to blend well with adults on set and maintain good relationships with them. There was a selection condition that they should be a healthy person who understands the identity and meaning of 'Korean's Table' and the value of its records with their heart and strives to convey that message."
PD Lim stated, "As you all know, Choi Soo-jong is known by elementary school students. He has been a representative entertainer of KBS, even in the recent 'Goryeo-Khitan War'. While Choi Bool-am has depth and weight based on his experience, Choi Soo-jong has the nickname of 'the nation's husband'. His friendliness and intimacy are his strengths. He has a bright, cheerful, and healthy energy."
He added, "He is also very emotional. During his first dubbing, he got choked up and had to stop the recording. I think having a lot of tears means he can empathize well with those around him. I believe he will convey that well. In conclusion, we are transitioning from Choi Bool-am to Choi Soo-jong, but I don't want to use the term generational change. I think it's about passing on the generations. Choi Soo-jong is the right person to carry on that legacy."
'Korean's Table' is a food documentary program that captures the hidden stories, history, and food culture of representative regional dishes. After 14 years and 3 months of exploring every corner of the country and unraveling the lives and culture of Koreans at the table, the symbolic figure of 'Korean's Table', Choi Bool-am, concludes his long journey, passing the baton to Choi Soo-jong.
