Actor Ahn Jae-mo stated that he lost 600 million won due to two scams.
On the 13th, the MBN entertainment program ‘Let’s Go Season 4’ (hereafter ‘Let’s Go’) aired a segment where MCs Ahn Jung-hwan and Hong Hyun-hee visited Ahn Jae-mo's home in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
On that day, Ahn Jae-mo shared that he is working on a project and revealed his current status regarding a new business. In response, Hong Hyun-hee asked, “Doesn’t it cost a lot of money?” to which Ahn Jae-mo honestly replied, “I spent a lot.”
He further explained, “The only reason I lost money was due to scams. I became a debtor, and my wife became a woman who has everything. When I buy a vehicle, I am the one who signs the installment contract, but after repayment, the car is in my wife’s name. She doesn’t trust me.” Ahn Jae-mo also mentioned, “The first incident (of being scammed) was quite significant, and the second was smaller. Even though it was smaller, it was still in the hundreds of millions. Before we got married, there was a home mortgage loan, and my wife paid it off for me.”
When his wife briefly appeared in the kitchen, Hong Hyun-hee asked, “Why don’t you appear together?” to which his wife replied, “I can’t handle the comments. I have too much to say,” drawing attention with her meaningful words. When asked why she paid off Ahn Jae-mo’s debts, she responded with a sigh.
His wife stated, “(My husband) has been scammed too many times. (He) doesn’t disclose his income, but when I bring it in, I gather everything. I have become obsessive because I don’t know when it will explode,” evoking sympathy.
Ahn Jae-mo clarified, “I have committed acts that provide sufficient grounds for divorce. However, it wasn’t for my personal indulgent life or hobbies; it was a desire to find shortcuts. It was an investment matter,” he explained. He continued, “600 million has just become waste paper,” revealing the amount of damage he suffered.
Meanwhile, Ahn Jae-mo married businesswoman Lee Da-yeon, who is six years younger, in January 2011, and they have one son and one daughter.
