“I really enjoyed the privilege of being able to see senior Park Eun-bin and Seol Kyung-gu’s acting right next to me.”
“Senior Park Eun-bin, let’s definitely set a day to have a meal together... I have questions I couldn’t ask.”
Actor Yoon Chan-young (23) expressed great satisfaction with his interactions with senior actors. He emphasized that such opportunities are rare and that he learned and felt a lot from them.
The Disney+ series ‘Hyperknife’, featuring Yoon Chan-young, is a medical thriller that depicts the intense confrontation between ‘Jung Se-ok’ (Park Eun-bin), a once-promising genius doctor who fell from grace, and her mentor ‘Choi Deok-hee’ (Seol Kyung-gu). It concluded with a total of 8 episodes on the 9th.
In the series, Yoon Chan-young plays ‘Seo Young-joo’, the right-hand man and bodyguard of Jung Se-ok, who believes in the doctor despite knowing she is a murderer.
Yoon Chan-young shared, “After ‘Hyperknife’ was released, I looked at various feedback. The viewers understood it as I intended, and there were unique reactions, which was fun. I felt good about being with the viewers.”
In the drama, Jung Se-ok refers to Seo Young-joo as ‘Manager Seo’, while Seo Young-joo calls Jung Se-ok ‘Miss’. Yoon Chan-young reflected, “The title ‘Miss’ wasn’t specified in the synopsis or script. It wasn’t clearly stated why it should be called that. I think that part was something that Park Eun-bin and I created together.”
He continued, “It didn’t seem like there was a big meaning behind it; it was the most suitable title to form our roles and relationship. Calling her ‘Miss’ was a fun element for me during filming.”

Yoon Chan-young has received praise for smoothly and effectively portraying his character. Although he plays a supporting role assisting Park Eun-bin, he expressed the character well without being too flashy, showcasing his own acting philosophy and analytical skills.
He stated, “When I take on a character, I tend to define it in one or, at most, three ways and immerse myself. For this work, I decided on ‘a heart for Se-ok’. That’s why all of Manager Seo’s narratives and actions made sense. I think I always considered Se-ok as number one in any situation.”
Yoon Chan-young was the youngest on set. In a situation where senior actors like Seol Kyung-gu, Park Eun-bin, and Park Byung-eun were present, he confidently took his place next to Park Eun-bin.
Yoon Chan-young recalled, “It was really amazing to see such great seniors all at once on set. I remember being anxious at first, but I tried to ease the atmosphere by initiating small talk.”
However, he was also cautious. He said, “Even if I had questions I wanted to ask senior Park Eun-bin on set, I couldn’t. I thought it would be rude to ask her to focus on me when there were many things to consider on set.” He added, “We promised to set aside a day after filming to ask questions. The senior also said we should definitely have a meal together.”

Although he remained the youngest in the drama, he has been in the industry for 12 years. Having transitioned from child acting to an adult actor, he has firmly established his position. Yoon Chan-young remarked, “I believe acting has no end. I felt a lot from watching seniors like Park Eun-bin, Seol Kyung-gu, and Park Byung-eun. I think the rhythm of acting should never stop. I promised myself to take it step by step, like breathing.”
As he mentioned, Yoon Chan-young has not taken a single year off since his debut, expressing humility by saying he was “lucky.” He reflected, “Looking back at all the works and filming times, they were truly precious moments for me. I feel I made the right choice to be an actor. It’s still fun,” he confidently stated.
As Yoon Chan-young’s acting career matures, Seol Kyung-gu and Park Eun-bin appeared before him. He expressed, “Since I play a role next to senior Park Eun-bin, I was able to monitor the acting of both seniors up close. I didn’t want to miss a single moment of their performances, and it was a great joy and happiness for me.”
Yoon Chan-young, who gained recognition through the 2022 Netflix original series ‘All of Us Are Dead Season 1’, has since been communicating with the public only through OTT (Over-the-Top) platforms. He commented, “Coincidentally, that’s how it turned out,” and added, “I’ve never chosen a work based on the platform. I usually accept most scripts that come my way. I want to show a diverse spectrum through various OTT platforms. I think that’s a good thing as an actor.”
Regarding his future projects, Yoon Chan-young expressed, “Now, I want to try a character with a bit of a villainous feel. I think I’ve played many good-natured characters so far. I also want to try romance,” he said with a smile.
Finally, Yoon Chan-young stated, “While it’s good to immerse myself in the work by watching my seniors, I also felt it’s important to take a step back and observe the situation and the character. I think that’s a healthy approach from the perspective of an actor,” reiterating his eagerness to learn.
After finishing ‘Hyperknife’, Yoon Chan-young is set to communicate with the public through ‘All of Us Are Dead Season 2’.
