Actress Sagang confessed that she underwent surgery for endometriosis.

On the 15th, SBS Plus and E Channel’s ‘Solo Because I’m Single’ depicted Hwang Jung-eum’s daily life.

On this day, Sagang visited Hwang Jung-eum to help prepare for her second son’s birthday party. While making goodie bags, Hwang Jung-eum asked Sagang, “Weren’t you sick? You look so healthy, what happened?”

Sagang replied, “It wasn’t even that day, but I had abnormal bleeding. I didn’t have time, so I went to a local hospital, and they suggested I get a cancer marker test. While waiting for the test results, I had a lot of thoughts. I thought, ‘What will happen to my kids if I have cancer?’”

She continued, “At that time, a close younger sibling said, ‘If you have cancer, they don’t write it like that in morning dramas these days.’ I burst out laughing at that. I thought, ‘It would be too much if I have cancer right now,’ and waited the whole day.”

Fortunately, the test results showed it wasn’t cancer, but she was advised to go to a higher-level hospital for further testing. Sagang recalled, “As soon as I got tested at the higher-level hospital, they said I needed to have surgery quickly. On the day I was supposed to be admitted for surgery, I couldn’t get out of bed. Later, I found out that my organ had ruptured. It was about 7cm.”

It turned out to be endometriosis. Sagang said, “They say the recurrence rate after surgery is 40%. I have to take hormone medication to prevent recurrence, but that medication forces menopause. I have to go through forced menopause.” She added, “My emotions are unstable, and there’s a saying that even if I eat as little as a bird, I gain weight. It’s also said that aging happens rapidly. I was more scared of that than the surgery. The side effects of the hormone medication are related to my livelihood. When I think about recovery, I need to eat well and take my medication, but my head is complicated.”

Hwang Jung-eum encouraged her, saying, “I’m grateful that it was discovered early and that you could be treated. You should diet. You need to exercise. It’s actually a good thing that you have an opportunity to exercise. You can live healthier and more beautifully.”
