Actor Choi Dae-hoon shed tears as he shared that he lost his father to COVID.
On the 23rd, he appeared as a guest on the tvN entertainment program 'You Quiz on the Block', where he gained recognition as 'Mr. Hakssee' in the Netflix drama 'Bokssak Sogassuda'.
After 18 years of being unknown, Choi Dae-hoon mentioned his father, who passed away after an 11-year battle with illness, as the person he thinks of the most.
Choi Dae-hoon recalled, "My father collapsed due to a cerebral infarction and hemorrhage, which severely damaged his right brain. It happened while he was sleeping," adding, "I covered him with a blanket while he was sleeping on the floor, but the next morning, my father had already missed the golden time, and no matter how hard I slapped his cheeks, he couldn't wake up."
After collapsing, Choi Dae-hoon's father lived with illness for 11 years. Choi Dae-hoon shared, "He couldn't even take care of his own needs, so I cleaned up after him from 9 PM to 2 AM. It was so hard that I thought, 'If it's going to be like this, what's the point of living?' I even asked my late grandmother, 'Grandma, can you take Dad with you?'
Choi Dae-hoon mentioned that his father contracted COVID while in a nursing hospital and passed away without being able to go to the hospital.
He said, "When I heard that my father suddenly passed away, I couldn't believe it, so I didn't even feel sad. When I arrived at the hospital, they told me to go straight to the crematorium. The way he left was so humble. He deserved a decent coffin and a proper farewell, but he left without any of that, which is so pitiful," as he shed tears.
Choi Dae-hoon continued, "If my father were alive, I would have bought him a big van. I would have wanted him to enjoy his old age with his friends. Also, in the past, no one would have known to brag about him, but nowadays, when people recognize him, I think it would have been nice to walk arm in arm and stroll down a flower path."
