Singer Lee Chan-won’s story of preventing dating violence and receiving an award has been revealed.
On the 25th, KBS2’s ‘New Menu Release Pyeon Restaurant’ depicted Lee Chan-won’s daily life.
On this day, Lee Chan-won said, “The person coming now is someone I really loved at one time. I will cook with feelings for that person that might seem excessive,” raising curiosity.
Lee Chan-won announced that he would prepare dishes with a rustic taste, such as mugwort rice cake, pumpkin porridge, and beef tripe soup. He recalled, “I used to go a lot to pick mugwort. When I went to my grandmother's house, I would go with my grandmother and mom to pick mugwort. My grandmother and mom picked it well, but I only picked weeds that looked similar to mugwort. Even when they gave me mugwort, I couldn’t eat it and threw it away,” reminiscing.
Lee Chan-won made rice cakes by mixing glutinous rice with blanched mugwort and pounding it in a mortar. Jung Ho-young admired, “Are you making rice cakes at home?” Yerim was surprised, saying, “I’ve never seen anyone make rice cakes at home.”
After completing the mugwort rice cake, Lee Chan-won went to the vegetable room to get pumpkin and fernbrake. He easily prepared the pumpkin, cooked it in a pot, and adjusted the consistency with glutinous rice to make pumpkin porridge. He then stir-fried the tripe and fernbrake and added the beef tripe broth that had been simmering for 5 hours to make beef tripe soup.
Once the cooking was finished, the guest Lee Chan-won had been waiting for arrived. The guest was Lee Chan-won’s homeroom teacher from his senior year of high school. Lee Chan-won said, “He is the teacher who changed my life completely. Don’t you say you like a subject because you like the teacher? Thanks to this teacher, I never fell below first place in social studies throughout my three years of high school.”
Lee Chan-won and the teacher reminisced by recalling past memories. The teacher praised, “Lee Chan-won became the class president and did so well. He never disappointed me.”
Meanwhile, a story was also revealed about Lee Chan-won receiving an award in the community for being a brave student. Lee Chan-won recalled, “I was on my way to meet a friend. In front of a soup restaurant, a woman was being harassed by a drunk man. It seemed like dating violence by today’s standards.”
He continued, “A man who looked much older was bothering a young woman, so the situation felt strange. I separated the drunk man from the woman and took her home. The police also came.”
The teacher mentioned, “There was a note stating that Lee Chan-won stayed until the police arrived,” showing the actual document.
