Ham Eun-jung becomes the embodiment of revenge.
On the morning of the 28th, an online production presentation for KBS 2TV's new daily drama ‘The Queen's House’ was held. Director Hong Eun-mi, actors Ham Eun-jung, Seo Jun-young, Park Yoon-jae, Lee Ga-ryeong, Lee Bo-hee, Lee Sang-sook, Kang Kyung-heon, Kang Sung-min, and Cha Min-ji attended.
‘The Queen's House’ (directed by Hong Seok-goo and Hong Eun-mi / written by Kim Min-joo / produced by Flying Entertainment and Ascendio) is a revenge drama about a woman who believed she had a perfect life but has everything taken away from her and fights to reclaim her life.
Director Hong Eun-mi stated, “I am determined to present a different side from what we have always shown to the viewers,” adding, “Due to the nature of daily dramas, we need to present the story to the viewers for a long time, so the flow of the story is important. The script is really interesting. I believe that bringing the script to life is a directing point, so I worked with the determination to make it more enjoyable than the book.”
Ham Eun-jung plays the role of Kang Jae-in, the eldest daughter of YL Group Chairman Kang Kyu-cheol (played by Nam Kyung-eup), who becomes the queen of revenge due to the betrayal of her closest friend and husband.
Ham Eun-jung began, “The title of ‘Queen of Daily Dramas’ is a bit embarrassing,” and continued, “The script was really interesting. I wanted to work on an interesting script. The speedy development is very attractive. I tried to make it even more enjoyable than the script on set.”
She added, “I have done many warm dramas, but this is my first time doing a cold revenge drama. I wanted to show a different side of myself as an actress, which is why I participated. Although the role itself is a diamond spoon, it has a down-to-earth side, and I thought viewers might feel catharsis from her transformation after the incident, so I wanted to be a part of it.”
Seo Jun-young plays Kim Do-yoon, who forms a strategic alliance with Jae-in due to a shocking incident.
Seo Jun-young said, “Daily dramas are something you can watch while having dinner, but I think it would be better to watch our drama after finishing your meal,” adding, “It’s different from other daily dramas. I will show immediate revenge. I will present it refreshingly like soda, so please look forward to it.”
Park Yoon-jae plays Hwang Gi-chan, a dual-natured character who hides ambitions to swallow YL Group.
Park Yoon-jae said, “I took on the role of a villain. I am prepared for back-smashing. That’s how the drama will do well, so I am satisfied with being hated a lot.”
Regarding acting as a couple with Ham Eun-jung, he stated, “I wanted to work with Ham Eun-jung since she was an idol singer. After working together this time, I thought she is a stable actor. I felt that our chemistry was good.”
Lee Ga-ryeong plays Kang Se-ri, who engages in a forbidden love with her friend's husband due to twisted desires towards her best friend.
Lee Ga-ryeong said, “While doing all sorts of evil deeds and gaslighting, it was difficult for me to act because the character is different from me personally. I even checked if my family was being deceived by me,” adding, “If I hear the term ‘chameleon,’ I would be satisfied that I did well.”
Finally, Director Hong Eun-mi said, “The drama progresses at a fast pace to meet the needs of today’s viewers. I dare say that daily dramas are usually something you can comfortably put on, but ‘The Queen's House’ is a drama you cannot take your eyes off of,” urging viewers to watch it live.
