NewJeans has proven their hot local popularity by ranking at the top of the Oricon annual rookie rankings in Japan.

According to their agency ADOR on the 10th, NewJeans (Minji, Hani, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein) ranked 2nd in the 'Rookie Ranking' of the 'Oricon Annual Ranking 2024' sales category announced that day. This is the highest ranking among overseas artists.

The 'Rookie Ranking' is determined by summing the sales amounts of singles, albums, streaming, and music DVDs. Oricon explained that NewJeans achieved sales of 2.09 billion yen during the counting period (December 11, 2023 - December 8, 2024).

NewJeans made a dazzling debut in Japan last June. Their debut single in Japan, 'Supernatural,' topped the Oricon chart on the day of its release and received a Gold Disc certification from the Japan Record Association for exceeding 100,000 copies shipped. This album has sold over 1.3 million copies (as of December on the Circle Chart). The title track 'Supernatural' reached the top of major local music charts immediately upon release and ranked high on both domestic and international music charts, despite being a Japanese single.

Additionally, NewJeans set a milestone by entering the Tokyo Dome in the shortest period (1 year and 11 months) among overseas artists. They sold out all tickets for the 'Bunnies Camp 2024 Tokyo Dome' fan meeting held on June 26-27 last year, attracting a total of over 91,200 spectators.

Based on these achievements and popularity, NewJeans received the Excellence Award for 'Supernatural' at the prestigious Japanese music awards, the 66th 'Shining! Japan Record Awards.' They also showcased their presence by appearing on famous local year-end broadcast programs. On the last day of the year, they took the stage at 'Countdown Japan 24/25,' the largest indoor festival in Japan, becoming the first K-pop girl group to do so.
