TOP (real name Choi Seung-hyun), a member of Big Bang, is facing the controversies surrounding him head-on during the official interview for 'Squid Game 2'.
According to Netflix on the 10th, TOP will hold a round interview with reporters at a cafe in Seoul on the 15th.
In the Netflix original series 'Squid Game 2', which depicts the fierce confrontation between 'Gi-hun' (Lee Jung-jae), who vows revenge and returns to participate in the game, and 'Frontman' (Lee Byung-hun), TOP plays the role of Thanos (Choi Soo-bong), a rapper who is a runner-up from a hip-hop survival show.
In the series, Thanos is a villainous character who participates in the 'Squid Game' after failing in coin investments and consumes drugs that he secretly brought in, causing various troubles with unpredictable behavior. TOP has faced criticism regarding his acting skills due to his excessive actions and madcap behavior, which have led to mixed opinions about his character.
In addition to acting skills, TOP has other challenges to overcome outside of his work. In 2016, he was sentenced to 10 months in prison with a 2-year probation for marijuana use. After being caught with marijuana during his service in the military police, Big Bang disbanded, and he ultimately completed his military service as a social service worker. After withdrawing from Big Bang due to the 'drug scandal', TOP faced further criticism when he hinted at retirement while arguing with fans on social media.
However, contrary to his 'retirement from the entertainment industry', TOP is making a comeback in acting with 'Squid Game 2', which has led to a cold public response. As accusations of 'network casting' arose, TOP was excluded from all promotional activities related to 'Squid Game 2'.
Amidst this, TOP will publicly express his position for the first time since various controversies arose. This will be his first interview since the release of 'Tazza: The Hidden Card' in 2014, marking an 11-year gap. Attention is focused on what he will say during the 'Squid Game 2' interview as he steps onto the official stage after a long time.
