Voice actor Yoo Ho-han suddenly passed away at the age of 52 on the 8th, with the cause of death revealed to be myocardial infarction.
On the 9th, the Korean Broadcasting Actors Union announced, “On the 7th, beloved voice actor Yoo Ho-han, known for his work in ‘Crayon Shin-chan’ and the ‘Avengers’ series, passed away from myocardial infarction.”
Lee Yeon-hee, chairperson of the Korean Voice Actors Association, stated, “Yoo Ho-han showed a strong camaraderie that made him family to all his fellow voice actors, transcending affiliations. He was a just and loyal irreplaceable voice actor. After hearing the news of his passing, I felt a devastating sense of loss as if I had suddenly lost my right arm; his absence will be profoundly felt.”
Born in 1972, Yoo Ho-han debuted as part of the 4th class of the Daekyo Broadcasting Voice Acting Troupe and rejoined the KBS Voice Acting Troupe as part of the 29th class in 2002. In 2016, he served as the chairperson of the KBS Voice Acting Troupe.
He voiced characters such as Macau in ‘Crayon Shin-chan: The Storm Called: The Jungle’, Professor Chronos in ‘Yu-Gi-Oh! GX’, Haruhiko and Pain in ‘Gash Bell’, and Giske in ‘Inuyasha’. He also voiced Vision in the films ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’. Additionally, he appeared in several films such as ‘Midnight Runners’, ‘Our Body’, ‘The Informant’, and ‘Chirashi: Dangerous Rumors’ in supporting roles, showcasing his talent as an actor.
In particular, he not only excelled as a voice actor but also took the lead in improving the rights of fellow voice actors. In 2017, he served as the 31st chairperson of the KBS Voice Acting Troupe for three years, playing a significant role in strengthening the unity among seniors and juniors. He also worked as the senior vice-chairperson of the Korean Voice Actors Association and as a delegate for the Korean Broadcasting Actors Union, participating directly in collective negotiations with broadcasting and production companies to protect the rights of voice actors.
The deceased's funeral is scheduled for the 11th, and the burial site will be at the Hambeoksan Memorial Park in Hwaseong.
