Jeon Hyun-moo and Kwak Tube burst into ‘happiness potential’ with deep conversations mixed with delicious food in ‘The Oh Sang-wook Project’.
In the 12th episode of the full-fledged real street food documentary ‘The Jeon Hyun-moo Project 2’ (co-produced by MBN and Channel S), ‘food bro’ Jeon Hyun-moo and Kwak Tube (Kwak Jun-bin) went on a journey to find real restaurants in Daejeon with Oh Sang-wook, a true ‘son of Daejeon’ who graduated from elementary, middle, and high school in Daejeon and is currently affiliated with the Daejeon City Hall, as well as a ‘fencing hero of 50 million people’.
They experienced the true taste of Daejeon by visiting famous bakeries, a selection of over 700 kalguksu (knife-cut noodle) specialty restaurants, Oh Sang-wook's favorite ‘tofu squid stir-fry’ restaurant, and a nationally famous ‘spicy kimchi’ restaurant. In particular, Oh Sang-wook openly shared his thoughts on marriage and dating, making the hearts of women around the world flutter.
On this day, Jeon Hyun-moo, who arrived in Daejeon, said, “Many people only know Daejeon for its bread, but the noodles are amazing. It’s the city of flour!” announcing the start of their Daejeon food trip. Immediately after, the two headed to a famous bakery in Daejeon, saying, “We can’t miss this place,” and discovered a fortune-telling vending machine on the street to check their fortunes for the new year.
After drawing his fortune, Jeon Hyun-moo exclaimed, “If I get married this year, this will be a sacred text!” revealing that he had drawn a ‘marriage fortune’. Kwak Tube directly asked, “Do you have any thoughts about getting married this year?” to which Jeon Hyun-moo replied without hesitation, “If there’s a good person, I will.” While Jeon Hyun-moo drew a ‘big fortune’ for marriage, Kwak Tube complained, “My fortune is almost a curse,” bringing laughter to the scene.
Starting the new year with ‘extreme’ fortunes, the two arrived at the bakery and tried various types of bread, achieving ‘complete bread satisfaction’. Kwak Tube praised, “I just came back from France, but Daejeon bread is better,” and Jeon Hyun-moo agreed, saying, “I acknowledge it!” After that, the two got into the car and headed to a 64-year-old traditional kalguksu restaurant selected from over 700 kalguksu specialty shops for ‘kalguksu lover’ Kwak Tube. Here, they completely ‘fell in love’ with the boiled pork and were also captivated by the kalguksu. Jeon Hyun-moo exclaimed, “(This restaurant) is a real find,” bursting with excitement.
Feeling good about starting their food trip, Jeon Hyun-moo immediately called his ‘food friend’ Oh Sang-wook. During the call, Oh Sang-wook declared, “I will show you the ‘red taste’ of Daejeon,” announcing the ‘Oh Sang-wook Project’. Later, the three met at Oh Sang-wook’s favorite restaurant, greeted each other warmly, and immediately began the recruitment process.
On this day, it was Oh Sang-wook, the ‘son of Daejeon’, who took the lead in the recruitment, but surprisingly faced a crisis of being recognized less than expected.
Fortunately, with Jeon Hyun-moo’s support, the three successfully secured a table at the restaurant, and Oh Sang-wook confidently stated, “If you order the main dish, the tofu squid stir-fry, you will get noodles as a side,” showcasing his ‘food knowledge’. A little later, when the ‘tofu squid stir-fry’ was served, Jeon Hyun-moo was amazed by its appearance.
The ‘big eater’ Oh Sang-wook devoured the stir-fry and topped the noodles with chive kimchi, eating it heartily. Kwak Tube marveled, “How do you manage your body while eating so many carbohydrates?” to which Oh Sang-wook calmly replied, “I just exercise to lose weight. I work out 5 to 6 hours a day during the off-season.”
After finishing the tofu squid stir-fry, the three moved on to a famous ‘spicy kimchi’ restaurant, skipping two well-known soup restaurants. Upon encountering the actual kimchi, Jeon Hyun-moo, the ‘spicy kimchi enthusiast’, sniffed it and fell into ‘ecstasy’, his eyes glazing over. Kwak Tube, seemingly determined, took a small taste of a piece of kimchi. Then, he casually remarked, “It’s not bad,” but quickly added, “(The spiciness) hits too hard at the back. My tongue is numb,” sweating profusely. Jeon Hyun-moo and Oh Sang-wook piled spicy kimchi onto their hot beef head soup and devoured it repeatedly. Furthermore, the three topped the spicy kimchi with rice, sesame oil, and tuna, mixing it with mayonnaise, reaching the peak of their food adventure.
During this, Jeon Hyun-moo initiated a conversation about marriage, saying, “You told me before that you want to get married before you turn 35~.” Oh Sang-wook replied, “(That statement) is still valid. Watching the ‘Avengers’ brothers (Koo Bon-gil, Kim Jun-ho, etc.), I thought I should start a family soon. After the matches, families come to greet and hug, and I want to find that happiness.”
When asked about his dating style, Oh Sang-wook revealed, “If I like someone, I go all out. On the other hand, I don’t get many confessions. And when I’m working, I completely cut off contact.” Finally, Oh Sang-wook shared, “I want to start a family in the future, teach my kids, and continue to expand my path.”
