“When it comes to elections, one side is red, and the other side is blue, and they are acting crazy. There should be harmony between the East and the West...”
Singer Na Hoon-a (78) delivered a sharp critique of the political arena even on his final concert stage.
On the 12th, during the last performance of ‘Last Concert - Thank You!’ held at the KSPO Dome (Gymnastics Arena) in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul, Na Hoon-a stated, “When it comes to elections, one side is red, and the other side is blue, and they are acting crazy.”
He emphasized, “If you give me a year, I will make it a law that people from Gyeongsang-do run for parliament in Jeolla-do, and those from Jeolla-do run in Gyeongsang-do. There must be harmony between the East and the West. We must not pass on such a country to future generations.”
Earlier, on the 10th, Na Hoon-a also remarked, “It wouldn’t be strange if a bomb fell on us right now in this country, South Korea,” and pointed out, “On TV, all the soldiers are being captured, and some soldiers are sitting there crying. Isn’t it ridiculous that we entrust our lives to this?”
He also pointed to his ‘left arm’ and asked, “Did you do well?” saying, “My mother said that siblings should never fight, no matter the reason. I want to ask if what they are doing is really for the country.”
These remarks caused a stir in the political arena. Kim Won-i, a member of the Democratic Party, expressed his displeasure on his social media, saying, “What a funny guy,” and added, “Having received so much love throughout his life, if he lived with his eyes closed and mouth shut about the world, he should just leave quietly without saying anything, what’s with this meddling?”
Seemingly aware of this, Na Hoon-a stated, “If you (the audience) say something to me, I will acknowledge it by saying ‘That’s right,’” but added, “However, I will never forgive what those (in politics) say,” showing his unwavering stance.
He further criticized, “The left is looking at the right and saying it did wrong. That’s why I said, ‘Did you do well!’ This means, ‘Yeah, (the right) didn’t do well either.’ But it’s about ‘Did you do well?’ and they are sitting there nitpicking about it.”
