Ham Jun-ho PD, who is directing the SBS Friday-Saturday drama ‘My Perfect Secretary,’ has come under scrutiny after it was revealed that he was legally punished in the past for special assault and insult charges.
On the 13th, the production team stated, “We apologize for the concern caused by the unfortunate news regarding PD Ham Jun-ho,” and confirmed, “It is true that PD Ham was charged with drunken assault and insult in early 2020.”
Prior to this, a post on an online community board reported that PD Ham was involved in a past assault incident. The production team clarified, “He sincerely apologized to all the victims and received legal punishment after forgiveness and settlement,” but added, “The previous conviction mentioned in the report from five years ago was a minor offense and is unrelated to this incident.”
PD Ham received a suspension in accordance with company procedures due to this incident and returned to the directing team after three years of reflection. The production team added, “We ask for the viewers' generous understanding.”
In March 2020, he was reported to the police on charges of special assault and insult. At that time, PD Ham was arrested for throwing a soju bottle and assaulting passersby while heavily intoxicated in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. It is also reported that he yelled at police officers and used profanity at the police station after being arrested in the act.
‘My Perfect Secretary,’ starring Han Ji-min and Lee Jun-hyuk, premiered on the 3rd. It is a romance drama about Ji-yoon, the CEO of a headhunting company who excels at work, and Eun-ho, a perfect secretary who provides close care.
