Former fencer Nam Hyun-hee has shared her feelings following the fraud scandal involving her ex-lover Jeon Cheong-jo.
On the 21st, Nam Hyun-hee wrote on her Instagram profile, "One year... Apologize. The ultimate winner is the good person. Everything will eventually return to the right path. Throw away the trash-like worries. I want to be a cautious person. A little friend is following me."
Currently, the post has been modified to say, "Justice will prevail; everything will eventually return to the right path."
In 2023, Nam Hyun-hee announced her remarriage to Jeon Cheong-jo, who claimed to be a third-generation chaebol from a former equestrian background. At that time, Jeon Cheong-jo claimed to be the illegitimate child of the chairman of Paradise Group, but it was later revealed to be a fabrication. Nam Hyun-hee stated that she was deceived by the fraud.
Jeon Cheong-jo was arrested and indicted on charges of fraud under the Specific Economic Crimes Aggravated Punishment Act for allegedly swindling approximately 3 billion won from 27 individuals under the pretense of being a chaebol from April 2022 to October 2023.
The 13th Criminal Division of the Seoul High Court sentenced Jeon Cheong-jo to 13 years in prison last November for fraud under the Specific Economic Crimes Aggravated Punishment Act, ordered the confiscation of a Bentley gifted to Nam Hyun-hee, and mandated compensation of over 1.13 billion won to the victims, along with 40 hours of participation in a child abuse prevention program. Jeon Cheong-jo was initially sentenced to a total of 16 years in the first trial, but the sentence was reduced by 3 years in the appeal, and the ruling was finalized as no further appeal was filed.
