Actress Hanakyung has lost in the appeal of the 'interfering with marriage' lawsuit.
According to the legal community on the 23rd, the Busan District Court's 4-1 Civil Division dismissed both the plaintiff's and defendant's appeals in the ruling of the damages lawsuit related to the interfering with marriage filed by Mr. A against Hanakyung.
As a result, the original ruling was upheld. The first trial court had previously ruled in July 2023 that "Hanakyung should pay Mr. A 15 million won," granting a partial victory to the plaintiff.
According to the complaint, Hanakyung met Mr. B, the husband of plaintiff Mr. A, at an entertainment establishment in Busan at the end of 2021 and continued their relationship for five months. During that time, she became pregnant with Mr. B's child and promised to build a family.
However, as Mr. B refused Mr. A's request for divorce and the divorce process stalled, Hanakyung directly contacted Mr. A to expose her inappropriate relationship with Mr. B and the fact of her extramarital pregnancy.
Hanakyung has claimed that she found out late that Mr. B was married. In a petition, she stated, "If it weren't for me, Mr. B's true nature would have remained unknown to Mr. A," and expressed, "I was falsely accused and turned from a victim into a perpetrator," but the court sided with Mr. A.
Meanwhile, Hanakyung debuted in 2005 with the MBC drama 'Beolseunggeon' and has since appeared in dramas such as 'Geunchogowang', 'The Scarlet Letter', 'Shin Gisaenggyeon', 'Roller Coaster', and 'My Name is Kim Sam-soon Season 8'.
