Actress and voice actor Jang Mi-ja passed away on the 27th. She was 84 years old.
According to the Korean Broadcasting Actors Union, Jang Mi-ja died of an illness that morning.
Her husband, voice actor and actor Park Woong, and their two sons are mourning deeply as they receive guests at her funeral. Their second son, Park Jun, is also active as an actor.
Born in 1941, Jang Mi-ja began her acting career as a stage actress in 1959 and officially debuted as a voice actor in 1963 as part of the first class of DBS Dong-A Broadcasting (later merged into KBS Korean Broadcasting Corporation's sixth class).
She stepped onto the musical stage starting in 1969 and began her film career in 1981 with the movie "Ban Geum-ryeon."
Over the course of 66 years, she built a unique acting world, appearing in more than 20 dramas such as "Dalmu-ri," "Land," "Second Republic," "Couple Clinic: Love and War," "Sons of the Sol Pharmacy," "Brilliant Days," and "King the Land," showcasing her relatable performances that won the hearts of viewers.
On the theater stage, she frequently collaborated with her husband Park Woong. She appeared in plays such as "Living in the Golden Pond" and "Dancing Silver Portrait," conveying the vibrant charm of theater to audiences at festivals like the Evergreen Theater Festival.
