Actor Lee Ik-kyung shed tears while mentioning his mother’s health condition.
On the 30th, during the Lunar New Year special program ‘What are you doing, brother?’ aired on MBC’s entertainment show ‘How Do You Play?’, Ha Ha, Joo Woo-jae, and Lee Ik-kyung were seen traveling together.
During the meal, Ha Ha expressed his deep affection for family, saying, “The reason I’m not afraid of getting older is because of my child growing up.” In response, Lee Ik-kyung hesitated for a moment, reddening his eyes, and said, “I keep wondering whether to talk about family. It makes me tear up. I was holding back because of that.” He then added, “My mother had surgery a few days ago. They did something to her heart.”
He continued, “My mother told me, ‘After the surgery, my heart doesn’t hurt when I sleep, and it’s so good.’ Two days after the surgery, I went to my sister’s house, and while drinking with my brother-in-law, my sister asked, ‘Ik-kyung, did you hear about mom?’ When I asked if the surgery went well, she said, ‘What do you mean it went well?’ and started crying. It was so different from what I had heard,” he said, shedding tears as he mentioned that his mother’s condition was not light.
Lee Ik-kyung also said, “My father told me, ‘Go to Thailand with your mother because there’s a gathering.’ But I don’t think that was the case. When it’s cold, blood vessels can constrict. Don’t you need to go to a hot country for the blood vessels to expand? My father forcibly took my mother to Thailand for three weeks. I was the only one who didn’t know at all,” he wept.
In response, Ha Ha said, “He knows your personality. He knows you would be upset. My mom also tells me different things,” comforting him by saying, “You must have been really upset.” Joo Woo-jae also offered comfort, saying, “My maternal grandmother had severe cancer but didn’t say anything and passed away.”
Lee Ik-kyung expressed again, “What makes me so sad is that when something happens, I find out late and misunderstand it,” revealing his difficult feelings. Joo Woo-jae reassured him, saying, “It’s not that your parents don’t know your personality; they don’t want to worry you because they know you would drop everything and come.” He added, “Now that you know, you should do your best to support them.” Ha Ha also said, “Because I love you. That’s what a mother does. There’s nothing you can do,” and added, “I just want to hug you,” pulling him into an embrace.
