Kim Sung-ryeong showcased her charming and candid personality.

In the 18th episode of the food documentary ‘The Jeon Hyun-moo Project 2’ (co-produced by MBN and Channel S), which aired on the 21st, Jeon Hyun-moo and Kwak Tube (Kwak Jun-bin) embarked on a grand journey to discover hidden restaurants in Chuncheon with their down-to-earth friend, Kim Sung-ryeong.

The broadcast recorded a viewership rating of 2.2% (Nielsen Korea, nationwide paid broadcasting households, part 2), setting a new record for the highest score of season 2.

Upon arriving in Chuncheon, Jeon Hyun-moo said, “In 2025, Chuncheon's representative ‘Neujok’ and my favorite~” as he headed to a hidden restaurant. At a retro-style eatery that ‘AZ’ would likely visit, the two were served a traditional ‘home-cooked meal’ set with a variety of side dishes on a dented tray, boasting 40 years of ‘mother's taste’. Jeon Hyun-moo marveled, “This is just like what my mom used to make. It takes me back 30 years.”

After enjoying the humble meal, the two went to meet actress Kim Sung-ryeong. Upon seeing Jeon Hyun-moo and Kwak Tube, Kim Sung-ryeong greeted them warmly and said, “There’s a place that many acquaintances have recommended,” leading them to a hidden makguksu (buckwheat noodles) restaurant. Here, they enjoyed the flavorful noodles accompanied by dongchimi (radish water kimchi) broth and showcased their noodle-eating skills.

After a satisfying meal, Kim Sung-ryeong said, “The next course is a ‘nurungji’ (scorched rice) meal that all actors go to when they come to Chuncheon!” and moved to a ‘hof’ (pub).

While waiting for the food, Jeon Hyun-moo said, “Since we’re at a hof, let’s reminisce about old memories,” and asked about Kim Sung-ryeong’s ‘Miss Korea’ days. Kim Sung-ryeong recalled, “As soon as I became Miss Korea in 1988, I appeared on various broadcasts. I was selected as the MC for ‘Sesibong’ with Yoon Hyung-joo and also hosted the Daejong Film Awards in 1991.”

However, Kim Sung-ryeong surprised everyone by saying, “I starred in Director Kang Woo-seok’s ‘Who Saw the Dragon’s Claw’ without auditioning, but I couldn’t act in movies for 16 years after that.”

Jeon Hyun-moo and Kwak Tube playfully asked, “Was there any controversy over your acting skills or mistreatment on set?” to which Kim Sung-ryeong replied, “No. I received three Best New Actress awards for ‘Who Saw the Dragon’s Claw’. After that, I kept declining casting offers, and eventually, I stopped receiving invitations altogether.”
