Throughout the competition of ‘Current King of Singers 2’, Kang Moon-kyung showcased overwhelming skills and depth characteristic of a ‘Pongsin’. During the stage of ‘Paengi’ composed by Kim Young-ho, she delivered a spine-chilling performance from the first note with her captivating vocal techniques, and during the stage of Na Hoon-a’s ‘Mangmo’, she sang with a poignant and heavy voice, expressing longing. When she performed a cathartic gesture by shaking a traditional garment placed beside her while singing sorrowfully for a long time, both the judging panel and the audience were moved to tears.

Seol Woon-do commented, “Many people must have felt emotional thinking of the filial piety they couldn’t express to their mothers,” and praised, “I haven’t seen anyone express trot as deliciously as Kang Moon-kyung since senior Na Hoon-a. She is a gem in the music industry.” Additionally, her performances of ‘Old Lover’ in episode 1 and ‘The Watermill Turns’ in episode 4 have also been highlighted as must-see stages, each recording over 2 million views.

Kang Moon-kyung was not only a candidate for the championship but also the MVP of the semifinals and the winner of ‘Best 1 Minute’ in episodes 10 and 11 consecutively. As a result, on the day of the final broadcast, the real-time bulletin boards on portal sites were flooded with enthusiastic responses such as “In my heart, she is number one” and “She is the top in singing ability.”

Seo Joo-kyung, the representative of Kang Moon-kyung's agency, stated, “She endured with her skills and approached the stage with a different appearance each time,” and added, “Although it’s regrettable, the passionate fans have increased significantly, and I would like to express my gratitude for their united support. After the tour concert, I want to greet everyone with a personal concert after honing my skills. I plan to pave the way with good quality songs.”

Previously, in the highly anticipated final of MBN’s ‘Current King of Singers’ broadcast on the 25th, the first place was taken by Park Seo-jin, who received 396,359 votes out of a total of 2,434,804 votes in real-time text voting, scoring a total of 4,574 points. Following him were Jin Hae-sung in second place, Enoch in third, Shin Seung-tae in fourth, Kim Jun-soo in fifth, Choi Soo-ho in sixth, and Kang Moon-kyung in seventh place, respectively, making it to the TOP7.

Kang Moon-kyung and the TOP7 of ‘Current King of Singers 2’ will join the ‘Korea-Japan King of Singers Competition’ held this year to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Korea-Japan diplomatic relations. They will also appear in the ‘Current King of Singers 2’ TOP7 Gala Show, which will be broadcast on the 4th at 9:50 PM.
