Actor Kim Dae-myung (44) has graduated from Sungkyunkwan University after 21 years, following five attempts to enter.
On the 1st, Kim Dae-myung posted a photo on his Instagram of himself throwing his graduation cap into the sky in front of Myongnyun Hall at Sungkyunkwan University, along with the caption 'graduation.' Actors Jung Kyung-ho and director Shin Won-ho, who worked with him on the drama 'Hospital Playlist,' came to congratulate him on his graduation and took a commemorative photo together.
Previously, Kim Dae-myung announced during a live broadcast on the YouTube channel 'Channel 15ya' that he had graduated after 21 years, and he shared a proof shot that day.
Kim Dae-myung entered the Department of Acting Arts at Sungkyunkwan University in 2004. He confessed on a variety show, "I wanted to act no matter what, so I entered after five attempts." However, he had previously stated that he was in a status of completion without meeting the graduation requirements.
To graduate from Sungkyunkwan University, students must register for at least eight semesters, meet graduation credit requirements, pass graduation evaluations, maintain a GPA of 2.50 or higher, and obtain certifications in three areas (character, global awareness, creativity).
The three areas refer to social service activities, scores in internal or certified foreign language tests, and IT-related qualifications. However, if a student does not obtain the three certifications but has been employed and meets the certification criteria after six months of completion, they can be exempted. Kim Dae-myung learned this fact late, which allowed him to wear the graduation cap.
Kim Dae-myung began his acting career on the theater stage in 2006 and expanded his activities by appearing in the film 'War of the Dogs' in 2012. He made a mark on viewers by playing the role of Kim Dong-sik in the tvN drama 'Misaeng' in 2014. He received great love for portraying the kind obstetrician Professor Yang Seok-hyung in the tvN medical drama 'Hospital Playlist' (슬의생) in 2021.
He will return to the small screen with the JTBC weekend drama 'Negotiation Skills,' which premieres on the 8th. The drama depicts the activities of a team led by a corporate M&A expert known as a legendary negotiator.
