Actor Kim Kwang-kyu revealed his difficult past.
On the 8th, a video titled "Top Instructor vs. Tier 1 'I Live Alone': Our Oddly Good Chemistry | Finally Humanities EP. 3 with Kim Kwang-kyu" was released on instructor Lee Ji-young's YouTube channel 'Lee Ji-young'.
On that day, Kim Kwang-kyu recalled his financially challenging past, explaining, "During middle and high school, I only thought about making money to help my family without any dreams." He continued, "I served in the military for five years as a Defense Ministry scholarship student. After being discharged, I thought I needed to save money, so I started driving a taxi." After doing various jobs, he turned 30 and decided to become an actor, thinking he should try what he wanted to do.
Kim Kwang-kyu moved from Busan to Seoul but lost all his wealth in stocks. He confessed, "I came to a goshiwon (a type of low-cost housing) with almost no money. At that time, there was a saying, 'Do you want to succeed? Stand at the edge of a cliff.' I stood on the Han River Bridge a lot. I went up the Yanghwa Bridge and such. It was so hard, but I didn't have the courage to die."
Kim Kwang-kyu also said, "I say I don't do stocks anymore, but I do. Whenever I buy, the stocks drop," evoking sympathy.
Not only did he fail in stocks, but he also fell victim to a rental fraud. Kim Kwang-kyu shared, "For 12 years, I received 30,000 won and 50,000 won in appearance fees and saved that money to get a jeonse (a type of rental agreement). But I was scammed in the jeonse. I can't even count how many times I slapped my own face for about three months."
