Chef Ahn Seong-jae, who appeared as a judge on the Netflix series 'Black and White Chef: Culinary Class War', revealed the behind-the-scenes story of how he became a Michelin 3-star chef.
In the MBC entertainment program 'Good Day' aired on the 9th, Chef Ahn Seong-jae, who met G-Dragon, responded to the question, "Why have you rejected entertainment offers until now?" by saying, "I thought of myself as a chef. I am someone who provides good experiences through food and taste, not someone who does other things yet."
He stated that this was his first appearance on a variety show since 'Black and White Chef', saying, "For me, it is an honor to participate in a big project that can have a positive impact as a chef. There are various genres of people, but I have my own area as a chef and a life I can show, and I participated with the hope of having a greater positive influence."
On that day, G-Dragon mentioned, "I visited before the program. When you were in Hannam-dong," to which Chef Ahn replied, "Did you come? I didn't know. But even if you came, I wouldn't go out. I usually stay in the kitchen, so I don't go out."
When Jung Hyung-don asked, "Would you not go out even if Chairman Lee Jae-yong of Samsung came?" Chef Ahn replied, "I didn't go out. I thought they would call me if needed." Hearing this, Defconn admired, "That's real professionalism."
Chef Ahn opened 'Mosu San Francisco' in the United States in 2015 and received a Michelin Guide 1-star just 8 months later.
In 2017, with an investment from CJ CheilJedang, he opened 'Mosu Seoul' in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and subsequently earned Michelin 1-star and 2-star in succession, eventually achieving the only 3-star in the country last year. However, at the beginning of last year, he ended his partnership with CJ CheilJedang, citing "a difference in direction," and temporarily closed. Chef Ahn's restaurant 'Mosu Seoul' has moved near the Grand Hyatt Seoul in Itaewon-dong, Yongsan-gu, and will reopen at the end of this month.
