Singer Wheesung (43, real name Choi Wheesung) was found dead on the 10th. Consequently, the joint concert with KCM scheduled for the 15th has also been canceled.
A representative from KCM's agency A2Z Entertainment stated to Maeil Business Star Today, "The joint concert with KCM and Wheesung scheduled for the 15th has been canceled." They added, "We are in a state of shock due to the sudden news. A notice regarding the cancellation for those who purchased tickets will be released soon."
The representative also mentioned, "In the case of a joint concert, the format was to perform for one hour each. We did not prepare duets together on stage or meet separately for practice. However, since we had decided to collaborate on the concert, we are heartbroken."
On the 10th, Wheesung's agency Taz Entertainment released an official statement saying, "We are very sorry to convey such heartbreaking and tragic news," and "On March 10th, our artist Wheesung left us. He was found in a state of cardiac arrest at his home in Seoul and was pronounced dead."
They continued, "In light of the sudden news, his family, fellow artists at Taz Entertainment, and all employees are mourning his loss. We are deeply saddened to share this unfortunate news with the fans who have given Wheesung their unwavering support and love. We ask for your prayers for his peaceful rest."
According to police and fire authorities, they responded to a family report and found Wheesung dead at his home at around 6:29 PM. It is believed that he was discovered a considerable time after his death. The police stated, "So far, there are no signs of external intrusion or criminal suspicion," and "The investigation is ongoing regarding the presence of a suicide note and the specific circumstances of his death."
Wheesung debuted in 2002 with "Can’t I...," and gained immense popularity with numerous hit songs such as "With Me," "The Day We Met Again," "Incurable Disease," "In a Year," "A Heart-Wrenching Story," "I Even Thought About Marriage," "Love is Delicious♡," and "Insomnia."
In 2019, Wheesung was indicted for purchasing propofol 12 times and administering it in hotels and other locations over 10 occasions, receiving a sentence of 1 year in prison and 2 years of probation. After a period of self-reflection, he recently announced his return to activities. In February, he met with fans during a birthday fan meeting and was scheduled to hold a joint concert "The Story" with singer KCM at the Daegu EXCO Auditorium on the 15th.
