JTBC has announced its separation from PD Jang Si-won due to conflicts over the production costs of 'Strongest Baseball'.
On the 11th, JTBC stated, "Confusion among participants and viewers regarding the new season of 'Strongest Baseball' is increasing, and we would like to clarify some misunderstandings regarding JTBC's unfair actions," and added, "We have decided not to produce the new season of 'Strongest Baseball' with Studio C1."
JTBC explained, "It is estimated that C1 has overcharged production costs by several hundred million to several billion won over the three seasons of 'Strongest Baseball'. They have billed for production costs equivalent to two episodes, including costs that were not actually spent, which appears to be a case of double billing."
They continued, "C1's actions are an unfair measure that takes viewers hostage, exploiting their superior position," and stated, "Ultimately, we completed Season 3 while enduring these actions."
JTBC emphasized, "On the 10th of last month, we notified C1 of the change in the production team. C1 can no longer be involved in the production of 'Strongest Baseball'. All IP rights of 'Strongest Baseball' are held by JTBC, and C1 cannot independently produce Season 4."
They added, "C1 attempted to conduct tryouts, and JTBC announced the cancellation to prevent innocent victims among participants, cast, and staff. C1 proceeded with the tryouts, causing ongoing confusion among participants and viewers. We sincerely apologize to everyone waiting for 'Strongest Baseball'. We will return with the fourth season."
Previously, PD Jang had announced plans to proceed with the stove league and tryouts for Season 4 as scheduled, but controversy arose when JTBC announced the cancellation of the tryouts.
