Former KBS announcer Kim Min-jung confessed that she once considered divorce due to her husband Jo Chung-hyun's tone of voice.
On the 11th, the '10 Years of Marriage' couple Jo Chung-hyun and Kim Min-jung appeared on tvN STORY 'Kim Chang-ok Show 3' to share their concerns.
Kim Min-jung said, "Please fix my husband's angry tone. Just asking something makes him angry. Just making a request makes him angry. He gets angry at any time," and added, "Even if it starts with trivial matters, the fight escalates because of my husband's tone. I knew about it since we were dating, but I was deceived by his words, 'I'll fix it. I'm sorry,' and now we are in our 10th year of marriage."
She continued, "My husband's public image is friendly and accommodating, but at home, he gets angry all the time," and said, "People ask if he is not good at communication since he is an announcer, but with that good voice and resonance, he gets angry, and I am surprised, and our child cries, saying, 'Dad talks like a tiger.' He is always defensive and ready to attack."
Jo Chung-hyun, who knows about his wife's hurt, said, "I don't remember well," which drew jeers. Kim Min-jung responded, "He may not remember, but I do, and it troubles my heart. The next fight follows the same pattern. When I tell my husband, 'I wish you would say this to me,' he replies, 'I know how you feel. Just understand it that way.'
Jo Chung-hyun confessed, "In the early days of our marriage, my wife complained about my tone. I was a friend who led others, but after meeting my wife, I kept getting scolded. As we fought over these things, it became 'Why! What!' and I ended up thinking, 'I haven't lived so wrongly to be criticized by you.'
Kim Min-jung said, "At some point, I stopped caring. Avoiding the problem made it fester. I even decided to break up and tried living separately. I have tried every method," and expressed her frustration, "I wanted to understand my husband, so I studied family counseling and will graduate with a master's degree this time."
Jo Chung-hyun acknowledged, "My wife is perfect. She tries to raise our child well and works hard. She even wants to survive and be recognized as a female announcer, monitoring incidents every day and preparing perfect reports for meetings."
Kim Chang-ok commented, "For a husband to speak about his wife like this expresses all his love and affection. It shows respect and admiration for someone he considers more wonderful than himself," and Jo Chung-hyun shed tears at his words, saying, "That's how I feel. But it's frustrating that even if I try harder, I can't do it."
Kim Chang-ok added, "In a man's heart, there is frustration about his limitations. He wants to do well but knows he lacks the ability. So, it's not that he is frustrated with this woman, but rather with his own inability," and comforted him, saying, "There aren't many husbands who excitedly explain what their wives do. There is pride and affection for my wife."
Jo Chung-hyun vowed, "I have caused too much trouble until now. I will do my best to communicate without getting angry and to speak with a heart like Ok-soo."
