The younger brother of the late Wheesung recalled his brother's kind and warm nature, stating that his music will forever remain in the world.
On the morning of the 16th, the funeral and burial ceremony for the late Wheesung were held at the Samsung Medical Center funeral hall in Ilwon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where his memorial was set up. Before the burial ceremony, a memorial service was held, attended by over 100 fans and fellow artists including Mighty Mouth's Choplex, Ha Dong-kyun, and Kim Na-woon, who came to bid farewell to the deceased. The burial site is at Gwangneung Memorial Park.
On this day, Wheesung's brother, Choi Hyuk-seong, expressed his gratitude, saying, "Thank you so much for coming to the short funeral and mourning my brother." He continued, "At first, it was difficult to hold the funeral due to the immense sadness and pain, but I thought it was right to hold a final ceremony for my brother, who lived diligently."
He added, "Seeing the fans and my brother's colleagues who visited without rest for two days made me feel that my brother was truly loved and had given love in return. I believe that happy memories will remain with everyone."
Choi stated, "My brother was fundamentally a very kind and warm person," but added, "He was always lonely, sad, and struggled. Our family wanted to understand the reasons behind it. We tried very hard, were curious, and wanted to help. But there seemed to be aspects that could not be resolved by others' efforts."

He continued, "We cannot blame my brother, nor can we blame the family or the fans. Many colleagues were feeling guilty, and many fans were grieving. But we must acknowledge that there are truly unavoidable aspects."
He also mentioned, "When we received condolences, the psychiatrist who treated my brother came. He said, 'I regret that it has come to this.' He had made a lot of effort. But illness is like that. It was the same when our father passed away. There are aspects that cannot be resolved by human effort. So I hope everyone does not blame themselves too much," comforting the mourners instead.
Furthermore, he added, "Although the physical life of Choi Wheesung has ended, I believe that the music and spiritual life of singer Wheesung will be eternal. As long as my brother's songs can be heard in this world, I believe he will continue to live by our side. I will always strive to keep my brother alive next to you all."
Earlier, according to the Gwangjin Police Station in Seoul, Wheesung was found collapsed at his apartment in Gwangjin-gu around 6:29 PM on the 10th. The fire department was dispatched after receiving a report from Wheesung's family, and the police are investigating the specific cause of death. The initial autopsy result from the National Forensic Service stated, "The cause of death is unknown." The results of the drug tests are expected to be available in two weeks.
The bereaved family decided not to hold the funeral due to concerns for the health of the mother, who was in extreme shock from the sudden news. However, after persuasion from colleagues, they changed their minds, stating, "After much deliberation, the bereaved family wishes to hold a time for remembrance. We would appreciate it if you could join us in accompanying the late one's final journey, who lived a lonely life."
Born in 1982, Wheesung debuted in 2002 with his first album "Like A Movie." He gained great love with hit songs such as "Is It Not Possible," "Incurable Disease," "I Even Thought About Marriage," and "Love is Delicious."
