The brother of the late singer Wheesung expressed gratitude to those who accompanied the deceased on his final journey.
On the 19th, Wheesung's brother stated through his agency, "I would like to first express my deep gratitude to the many industry colleagues and friends who took the time to come in person or sent wreaths from afar to convey their condolences, despite their busy schedules."
He continued, "Seeing the wreaths that filled the funeral hall and the constant visits from everyone made me realize that my brother was able to shine brightly all this time thanks to all of you who illuminated him. Once again, I sincerely thank you."
Wheesung's brother said, "Now my brother has entered a peaceful eternal sleep. He always struggled with severe insomnia after becoming a singer, but fortunately, the last image I saw of him was that of him sleeping very peacefully. So please do not be sad anymore and let my brother go well in your hearts."
He added, "It would be a great comfort to our family if you could continue to bring out and listen to my brother's precious music whenever you have the chance, so that it does not disappear or get buried in this world," and expressed, "I sincerely thank you for accompanying my brother on his long journey, and I wish you peace and happiness in all your future endeavors."
Wheesung was found dead at his home in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 10th. He was 43 years old. The police have requested an autopsy from the National Forensic Service to determine the exact cause of death, and the NFS stated on the 12th that the cause of death is unknown. The results of the detailed examination have not yet been released.
Initially, Wheesung's family planned to hold a quiet funeral among themselves, but they set up the funeral hall late on the 14th to give those who loved the deceased a chance to say their final goodbyes. The funeral was held on the 16th, and he was laid to rest at the Gwangneung Memorial Park.
