It has been revealed that Jungkook of the group BTS was a victim of stock theft due to hacking after his military enlistment.
Big Hit Music stated on the 22nd to Maeil Business Star Today, "As soon as the company and the artist became aware of the criminal act, we took measures to suspend payments on the account and implemented restoration measures to prevent actual damage."
They further explained, "In addition to legal actions, we have also established security measures to strengthen the protection of the artist's personal information and device-related information to prevent recurrence."
According to Biz Korea, after Jungkook enlisted and was undergoing basic training in January last year, a total of 33,500 shares of Hive stock (approximately 8.3 billion won) were transferred to an unauthorized account without Jungkook's consent.
The thief attempted to sell 500 shares (approximately 100 million won) to a third party to make a profit.
In March last year, Jungkook filed a lawsuit for the return of the shares against the third party who purchased the 500 shares. In February of this year, the Seoul Western District Court ruled, "There was no valid transfer contract for the shares, and Jungkook has been a victim of identity theft," ordering the return of all shares to Jungkook.
It is reported that the perpetrator who stole Jungkook's account has not yet been caught.
