Singer and actress IU has donated 200 million won to support wildfire victims and improve the treatment of firefighters.

On the 26th, the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association (Chairman Song Pil-ho) announced that IU donated 100 million won each for wildfire relief and for improving the treatment and perception of firefighters dedicated to disaster sites, totaling 200 million won.

IU stated, "I hope this small help reaches those who have been affected, and I express my deep condolences to the victims," adding, "I sincerely hope that the wildfire is extinguished quickly without further loss of life." She also expressed her deep gratitude to the firefighters who are working hard to extinguish the fire.

IU has shown her positive influence by participating in donations whenever help is needed. She has contributed to various causes, including helping neighbors during the 2020 flood and supporting recovery efforts for the Donghae wildfire in 2022, as well as providing assistance to vulnerable groups such as low-income families and single-parent households every year.

Shin Hoon, Secretary-General of Hope Bridge, stated, "IU's donation embodies a deep solidarity towards neighbors and gratitude towards those who work hard in unseen places," and added, "We will do our best to ensure that this precious intention is fully delivered to the affected areas and sites."

The wildfire that occurred on the 22nd in Uiseong, Gyeongbuk, has spread to four cities and counties in the northeastern region, including Andong. A total of 15 fatalities have been reported in Andong, Cheongsong, Yeongyang, and Yeongdeok. Currently, over 27,000 people have taken refuge in temporary shelters.

In the meantime, celebrities are extending their helping hands. Lee Chan-won, from Uljin, Gyeongbuk, donated 100 million won through the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association on the 25th, and Jang Min-ho also donated 100 million won to the Korean Red Cross for wildfire recovery. Suzy donated 100 million won, while Yoo Jae-suk, Go Min-si, and NCT Haechan each contributed 50 million won.
